Friday, September 21, Second Period

Instead of the usual lounge-like arrangement, today the classroom has been set up without any furniture at all. On the floor are numerous large and comfortable looking cushions. Hanging on one wall is an oversized palmistry diagram.

"Good morning, class. Before we begin our lab, I do want to remind you all that your project proposals for this lab section are due by the end of the day today. There is a drop box outside my office door for that purpose. Also, your group project proposals for the regular class are due today as well.

"Now, we're about to begin our first hands-on lab exercise, and so I thought it was fitting that today's lesson be truly, er, 'hands-on'. Find a seat next to your lab partner and make yourself comfortable. Today we will learn the art of chiromancy, or palm reading."

Aziraphale powers the wards on the classroom and then takes a seat on one of the cushions. "You may begin. Let me know if you need any assistance."

Using the following information on palmistry, do a reading for your partner.

[ooc: Obviously, you can't do an actual reading for the other person. However, if you'd like to RP the lab, one possible solution would be to have your partner answer the questions found on the Step by Step sight, and then create your own interpretation based on that information. Or, make something up. It doesn't have to be accurate, especially for those characters with no actual divination talent.

Note: If your partner doesn't show up or tag in to RP and you'd like to play out the reading, ping me in the OOC and we'll switch people around or you can practice on Aziraphale.]

Bridge sits down on a cushion, looking... not at all nervous about having to do something that'd require taking his gloves off, no.

Dean flopped down beside Bridge and gave him a sympathetic look. "This is probably your idea of the assignment from hell, huh?"

"Could be worse," Bridge says thoughtfully. "I mean, at least I know *you're* not gonna freak out on me."

"Yeah, I save my freakouts for important things," Dean agreed. "Like if my Dad started dating the principal or something," he said, throwing out the most outrageous and unbelievable example he could think of. "You without gloves, just isn't that big a deal to me."

"You've got a point," Bridge agrees with a tentative smile. "Okay, you wanna try the reading thing first?"

"You can be the reader first," Dean said, offering his hand, palm up. "That way you can work up to taking off the gloves."

"Thanks, man," Bridge says, taking Dean's hand and looking for the lines that the handout talked about.

"So what do you see?" Dean asked after a moment or two of silence. "Am I going to be rich and famous and lucky in love?"

"Um," Bridge says, peering at what the handout called the 'life line', "you'll have a life with a lot of physical activity and twists and turns, apparently."

Dean snorted. "Yeah, kicking demon ass. Anything else?"

"You're destined to get a good grade in this class thanks to a lab partner with some experience in the field."

Dean laughed. "I'm good at picking personnel."

Bridge frowns. "Yeah, I think I like reading auras better than reading palms," he admits. "That, at least, I know how to do. This... seems complicated."

Dean shrugged. "It seems really popular among fake psychics," he said with the voice of experience. "I'm sure that over half the time it's a complete and total con."

"You've dealt with a lot of fake psychics, then?" Bridge asks, curious.

"Some. I've seen them try to con families who have real hauntings that they can help and dude, I'm more psychic than most of them."

Bridge scowls. "That's... gah. That people would do that. Way to give psychics a bad name, there."

"Yeah." Dean grinned suddenly. "You should see how they react when they come face to face with an actual genuine ghost. Scream like a girl and take off like a track star. Some of them even wet their pants."

Bridge is not a mean-spirited person, but even he has to snicker at that, because... just desserts and all.

"Did you wanna try the palm-ready thing, now?" He asks, after a moment.

"Sure, if you're ready...?"

Bridge shrugs. "If I hesitate anymore I'll probably lose my nerve," he admits, taking off a glove and holding his hand out.

Dean reached for it, then paused. "I could probably do this without actually touching if you'd rather...?"

"Unless *you've* changed your mind about whether it's okay, I'm fine with it," Bridge says.

Dean just grinned and firmly took hold of Bridge's hand, pulling it closer so he could look at his palm.

Bridge returns the grin, though somewhat nervously, and tries to focus on *not* picking up any stray thoughts.

"What'cha got for me?" he asks.
