Dance 3rd, 5th period Thursday

As the class slowly filed into the dance stuido, they may notice something odd about El.

He always gives off a bit a cowboy vibe. But never before has he worn a cowboy hat. Of course, it's black.

"Howdy, class. We'll be working on country/line dancing today. Some of you may snicker, but many believe this to be a wonderful form of expression and I find it difficult to believe that any form of dance is not a valid form of expression. And if you think this is bad, wait until the end of the semster."

So saying, he launched into a lecture on country/line dance. Complete with demonstrations with Nadia.

After finishing, he nodded for Nadia to join the rest of the class and picked up his guitar. "Now we'll see what we can do for practice..." he struck up a country tune. "Swing your partner round and... something. Just dance."

Pippi is not inclined to mock the hat.

The teacher wears it well.

"I like the hat," River said. "I have a new hat too."

Nadia can think of one other person on campus who wears all black and a cowboy hat.

Fortunately, El happens to be an entirely different category socially, economically, and physically from Pete, so the comparisson need not ever be spoken aloud.

Still, she was pretty sure that clogs were from Sweden, not . . . wherever country music came from. Guess you learn something new every day.

Another cowboy. Billy decided that it seemed, a little out of place on El, but not ridiculously so.

Hat mocking from the guy in the waistcoat? Surely you jest.

Pippi is available to do the Tush Push.

Or possibly Slappin' Leather.

Electric Slide?

Nadia's actually enjoying this more than she thought she would. She especially likes the parts that involve lots of rhythmic boot slapping.

She kept an eye open for anyone who might need extra encouragement to get up and dance.

Lana giggled and started to dance.

Billy might need help making it not look like Irish step dancing.

Walter was in dance class. He got up and danced. Hey, extra credit from himself if he managed to not look like he felt like an idiot.

Sam was trying to learn the steps, but you'd think she had dyslexia--she kept going left when she should have gone right. But she moved on the beat and was having fun, so maybe that counts for something.

Willow blinked a lot. She had the befuddled expression of someone who was trying to parse the lesson.

"This is country line dancing?" Willow asked. "Really?"

"Oh no, no," Willow assured him. "It's very nice. It's just that for some reason I thought line dancing was that dancing where folks are standing in two lines and being very polite while wearing Jane Austiny clothing and bouncing around."

Nadia's willing to help, but she can't promise she won't fall over giggling in the middle of it. The phrase "more animated than Irish step dancing" wasn't one she ever really expected to encounter.

... damn you, now I want to go line dancing.
