Cyborg Theory, class #2

As students walk into class, three of my brethren replicators hold up a holograph of the RepliCarter Dr. Carter smiling calmly.

There are instructions with the words, “when the class is assembled, please press the red button.” Upon pressing the red button, the holograph Dr. Carter speaks –

“Class, I apologize for my absence on this our second class of the semester. Unfortunately, a rather pesky hoard of aliens attacked one of my conquered galaxies and I must smite them as quickly as possible.

I would like the human (and mini!) form of myself to take attendance and for Mr. Gaeta to work our A/V equipment in the room as I’d like you to watch “The Matrix” this evening. If you have not already seen this film, you’re in for a treat.

As the lights will be off during the next three hours, please do not endeavor to replicate yourselves by making more pesky humans in the dark. However, discussion and a bit of MST3K snark is definitely allowed and encouraged.

Your homework is as follows:
(1) Pick one short answer question about the film and answer it as best you can:
a) Why is it so important to have only male Agents? Why can’t there be female Agents?
b) What is the significance of the Oracle as a chain-smoking, cookie-baking African American grandmother?
c) Are Choi and DuJuour resistance fighters or just random human pawns?
d) Is the Matrix as system inherently evil?
e) Tell me how awesome Trinity is and you get SO MANY bonus points.
(2) Have you had any encounters with artificial intelligence yourself? Please give me a detailed account.

I will be accepting your homework on Wednesday via a post on [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh or via my voice mail. Thank you.”

*settles in for the movie*

Wait, the reality he's in isn't real?

*clutches head* That makes my brain hurt.

::sits::

Um, is anyone else concerned that our teacher is off... smiting?

Beka eyes the rest of the class awkwardly, wishing Dr. Carter was here. She'll stay for class, but she really has to get back to the Maru. The situation with her classes today and trying to give certain people space from her is taking it's toll and she looks very very tired.

Beka sees Lee out of the corner of her eye and wants to die. She really wants to leave, but then she'll have to pass him. She really wants to apologize even more.

After about twenty minutes, Beka gathers her things and leaves.

*nudges him*

What's with the brooding?

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2005-09-20 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ohhh.

*passes Lee the chocolate he was snacking on*

That's not good.

*shrugs*

He can ask another girl out. At least show that he's going to be a man about it. And the next time one of these things comes up, he'll have to remember to get in first.

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2005-09-20 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
That's true.

*wonders what the policy is for taking a teacher to the dance. Figures Padmé'd probably laugh at him for asking*

It's hard to do, though. You girls can be scary. Traveling in packs, talking in some strange code.

We're scary? *is surprised* Uh. I suppose. But if you're nice to a girl, she'll probably be nice back, you know.

Aeryn is currently protesting the weapons ban at the firing range, but she will have someone [livejournal.com profile] whitedeathpod let her borrow the movie so she can finish the homework.

*attends class and watches the movie*

Man, I missed out on some good stuff while I was dead away.

*makes a note to get some people to recommend the good movies he missed*

*wanders into class, despite not being officially registered, and settles down to watch the movie*

*wanders into class and takes a seat near the side, watching the movie attentively and wishing Neo were taller.

Glad that he had at least one class he remembered signing up for and participating in, Sparky walked in and sat down. He decided the Agents were a little too undisciplined, and mentally began composing a list of their deficiencies for when he actually did his own computer programming.
