Lorelai smiled at the students once they'd all entered and taken their seats.

"Morning everyone! Today we're going to learn about dating. It's an important part of the modern high school experience for a lot of students and with Homecoming coming up in a few weeks, I want to give you all the information you'll need to have a wonderful time."

She launched into a short lecture on old-fashioned courtship rituals and how they evolved into modern dating. She also gave out a packet of handouts on Homecoming, Prom, Dating, and Safe Sex.

"Now, I'm going to pair you up and I want you to try asking each other out on dates. In this day and age, it's perfectly acceptable for a girl to ask someone out, so I want both of you to take a turn doing the asking. Marty, Jaye and I will be around to answer any questions you might have."

Aeryn actually folds her arms on the desk, leaning down to rest her chin on them so he has nowhere else to look. "All right, hello then."

It's interesting to note that no one else seems to have ever thought of that. Pete managed not to look too disappointed that his view was now blocked. "Pete Hutter, ma'am, at your service." He held out his hand.

Still keeping low, she works one of her arms free to shake Pete's hand. "Aeryn Sun. Where are you from?" She has to ask. This is completely new for her.

"The former Oregon territory, circa 1894. Are you from this locality, or another place all together?"

She makes a mental note to find out where Oregon is, just because she's never heard of it. "Space," she answers. It's the easiest way to explain it.

Hey, he wasn't a follower of science fiction. In his day, people were still too busy exploring their own planet to start worrying about any other ones.

This is new, too. "I'm not from a different planet-" She sighs, because that takes even more explanation. "I'm an alien."

Well, now, obviously this girl was making things up to make him look like a fool. "Uh-huh. Right. Anyway, would you do me the pleasure of accompanying me on one of these date things that the instructor is tellin' us about?"
