Dance 2, 5h Period Thursday

"I hope you all had a good weekend," El said as the students filed into the room. "And I suggest that, if you think it would help you personally, that you stretch out a bit. We don't want anyone straining a muscle or anything."

He looked around the class. "Today we'll be discussing the tango. Not the ballroom type, with specific steps, but the Argentinian variety, which is more free form and has, in my opinion, more spirit."

El then launched into a lecture on the Tango, complete with a demonstration with Nadia.

"Now, pair up as best you can and practice. I realize that this is, in some ways, impossible considering the number of boys we have. If you need, I am more than willing to dance with someone. Otherwise wait your turn or dance with another girl if such a thing doesn't bother you. Just remember to switch of leading. Nadia and I will be around if you have questions."

"My pleasure." Walter nodded to the dance floor and went to try the stylized starting pose that he'd seen demonstrated.

Pippi followed Walter onto the dance floor and, since she's learning partly from Nadia, she poses in an Argentine Abrazo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_Tango#The_Embrace_.28Abrazo.29).

Walter had the easy side of it, since in general, the lead has a lot less fancy stepping to do. Of course, Pippi's boots made the matter perhaps a tad more problematic.

Except that Pippi is well and truly used to her boots and frequently dances the Schottishe in them.

That and the fact that she's taken her boots off and is dancing in her bare feet.

Bare feet would certainly make a difference. And make re-polishing his shoes easier.

Walter started them slow, as much for his benefit as for Pippi's, and focused strictly on getting his feet right.

Pippi is totally letting Walter lead.

"Psst! Don't look at your feet!" she whispered.

"I'm not looking at my feet." And he wasn't. With the postures required in Argentine tango, that's not really feasible.

It's a sight more complicated than the Schottische, too.

"Oh I thought I saw you glancing in the mirror... I thought you were looking at your feet, but maybe you were just ogling Nadia's legs." She said. "Or thinking about springloaded besties."

Walter glanced over at El, grinned, and picked up the pace. "Must be Nadia's legs, since I wouldn't know anything about 'springloaded beasties.' Especially not ones jumping out of teachers' desks."

"I was passing by the Professor's office on the way in and noticed such a beastie."

Walter led Pippi into a turn before answering. "I hadn't thought of that. Perhaps I'll try for extra credit."

"Um... I went shopping for drums yesterday." she said as they glide across the dancefloor.

"Really?" Walter didn't find part of it terribly implausible. "Internet all the way to the mainland, maybe?"
