Dance 2, 5h Period Thursday

"I hope you all had a good weekend," El said as the students filed into the room. "And I suggest that, if you think it would help you personally, that you stretch out a bit. We don't want anyone straining a muscle or anything."

He looked around the class. "Today we'll be discussing the tango. Not the ballroom type, with specific steps, but the Argentinian variety, which is more free form and has, in my opinion, more spirit."

El then launched into a lecture on the Tango, complete with a demonstration with Nadia.

"Now, pair up as best you can and practice. I realize that this is, in some ways, impossible considering the number of boys we have. If you need, I am more than willing to dance with someone. Otherwise wait your turn or dance with another girl if such a thing doesn't bother you. Just remember to switch of leading. Nadia and I will be around if you have questions."

Lana looks around for a partner.

"Hey, need a partner? I think I'm getting the hang of this."

Lana smiled at him. "Sure."

Billy held out his hand to lead her onto the dance floor.

Lana followed him to the dance floor, her body already moving naturally to the rhythm of the music.

Billy's earlier dance with Willow had served him well, even so, he was slightly behind Lana in terms of the skill. Still, he was gracefull and picked up the rhythm soon enough.

He was starting to rather like dancing, it was like sparring, only non-violent.

Lana smiled at him as her body moved fluidly. This dance just felt comfortable to her.

"I forget the intros from last week. You ever dance before?"

Lana shook her head. "Not like for a class or anything. Just kind of for fun. But I've done cheerleading and some gymnastics, so..."

Billy nodded. "I'd imagine cheerleading would be good prep for this."

"I guess," Lana said. "I've just always really liked to dance."

"This is my first, okay well I guess technically third time trying this."

"You seem to be doing well," Lana said with a smile.

"I credit the martial arts." Billy said. "Helps with coordination." he missed a step. "Rhythm, not quite so much apparently."

Lana shrugged. "Everything takes time to learn," she said.

"Much as I'd prefer to always get it right the first time," she joked.

"Ah, then it'd be boring."

Lana's quiet for a moment. "I don't think I'd mind that kind of boring too much," she says finally.

Billy gave her a quizzical look.

Lana shook her head and smiled a little ruefully. "Sorry. Just ignore me."

"Not gonna be easy." he smirked. "Not while dancing with you." Then he sobered. "but consider the unasked question, uhm, unasked. Far be it from me of all people to pry."

"It would just be nice to not have to fight so hard to be perfect all the time," Lana said, flushing. "I spend so much energy on it."

"Why perfect? or, is that the question I said I wouldn't ask?"

"Everyone back home expects me to be. And I feel like I owe it to them. You know... straight A student, good job, overachiever, perfect social life."

"Ah. Yeah that sounds rough." Billy of course had never had a real job, had been homeschooled, never had a social life. Over achiever he could sort of understand.

"I've tried to just take it a day at a time."

Lana nodded. "I'm not so good at that," she said. "Always something to work at."
