Wilderness Survival Redux - Week 7 | Thursday Morning, A Clearing in the Woods

"Today," Callisto addressed the class. "As a new and novel experience, I'm actually giving you clothing to wear."

She pointed to a pile of masks, gloves, elbow and knee pads, and body armour "There should be something in your sizes there. Get changed."

After everyone had gotten changed, she pulled out a slingshot and a pouch full of paintballs, and continued. "Today's class is simple. You run, I hunt, you make it to the end of the class without being caught or me shooting you, I don't make you go back to the dorms naked. You have until I reach two hundred to get out of here."

With that Callisto closed her eyes and started counting.

Bridge looks around for any sign of Callisto as he tries to figure out where to head next.

Suppressing his first instinct to dive towards the person stalking him, Peter ducked behing a tree again.

A paintball whizzed past Bridge. It missed him by a fairly large margin.

Now the rustling, again louder, came from the bushes on Peter's left.

Bridge watches the paintball whiz by, a little confused as to why Callisto's aim is off.

Another paintball whizzed by on the other side, missing by a larger margin this time.

Peter stilled and listened carefully. Then stayed exactly where he was, keeping a close watch around him.

The rustling sounded closer to Peter now.

The paintballs hit the branches inches from Tyler, and he decided dictching the cover would make sense.

He rose quickly and went into a full-on run.

Peter continued to scan his surroundings for colours or metal that didn't belong in the woods.

Dean moved even more cautiously, trying to keep an eye on everything around him. It wasn't fair that they didn't get paintguns too. He'd feel a lot more comfortable if he was armed.

The rustling came from right next to Peter.

A paintball thwocked into a tree right in front of Dean's nose.

Paintballs went flying after Tyler.

No, seriously, Bridge has no idea why Cal keeps missing. He ducks behind a bush.

Rory changed very quickly.

A slingshot landed in the bush beside Bridge.

Peter moved around the tree away from the sound.

Rory figured she stood a better chance of not getting caught if she stuck with someone who knew what they were doing.

So she scurried after Bridge.

Bridge eyes the slingshot. Then takes off a glove and looks around until he spots Callisto's trail. He heads in the opposite direction.

Instinct and training took over and Dean was diving and rolling for cover before he'd had time to form the conscious thought to do so. He ended up behind some bushes near the bottom of the tree that had been hit and cautiously looked around in the direction he thought the paintball had come from.

A whistle came from the tree branches above Peter.

Deciding not to look up for the paintball in the face, Peter dove for the bushes near him.
