The Danger Room was somewhat non-descript this week, with a small, plain anteroom leading to a single door. Admiral Harrington stood before that door, Nimitz perched on her shoulder; Andrew LaFollet was lurking nearby, as well as someone the admiral's tactics students would recognize. Her tone that morning was professional and detatched, if a little stiff, and Nimitz's ears were almost completely flattened against the back of his head.

Before she spoke, Honor reached up and scratched the treecat's lower jaw, and he relaxed somewhat. She then turned her attention to the class. "Good morning," she said. "I hope each of you had a good weekend. Today will be a relatively short exercise. Once you complete it, you are welcome to leave.

"Behind me, you will find a door. Inside that door is a maze. It's not your everyday maze, however; it's been designed as an egress chamber. The walls are black and lighting is below minimal; there will be manufactured smoke, as well as a little heat. Your job ~~should you decide to accept~~ is to get everyone through the chamber.

"At the end of the chamber, there is an escape hatch. You must then get everyone through the hatch and to safety. Mac has set up a table on the other side with water, coffee, tea, and some quick breakfast items if any of you are interested.

"Any questions?" She waited a moment, prepared to answer any questions. That done, she added, "Then let's be about it. ~~This message will not self-destruct in 5 seconds.~~"

The sign in sheet is on a small table just inside the Danger Room door.

It's pitch black and, if anyone could see, there would be a haziness to the air. The temperature is a bit warm, just on the edge of the comfort zone. There's plenty of open space -- enough for a group to congregate in, should they need to pause to gather their senses.

As everyone finally filters through the maze, they come to a dimly lit area, where there is an escape hatch with a wheel lock on it. The hatch is approximately 3' in diameter (give or take), and about 4' off the ground. The temperature behind in the maze is rising.

Admiral Harrington was waiting at the end of the exercise. Somewhere between the beginning and the end, while everyone was in the maze, the other admiral disappeared, as had Andrew LaFollet. Nimitz hovered protectively on her shoulder, his intelligent gaze watchful.

Honor's smile was taut, but genuine as she watched everyone filter through.

Despite her somewhat...tense...manner, Honor was available, should any students have concerns or need to talk.

Bel smirked. "This is going to be easy," he said, unaffected by the heat. He shimmered away.

Bel shimmered to the other side of the hatch and looked for a way to open it from the outside.

Honor arched a disapproving eyebrow at Bel.

"Don't forget we need to get everybody out Bel!" she called after him laughing.

Pippi looked around and let her eyes adjust to the light.

"Not sure how long he'll be gone... Do you think it's hot and smoky because there's supposed to be a fire?"

Bel blinked innocently and grinned. "Just using my natural abilities," he said.

"This is a teamwork exercise, Mr. Turner."

On her shoulder, Nimitz looked somewhat amused.

[Sorry for the edit. Had a brainspaz for a minute.]

"But I'm trying to open the door from out here so they can get out," Bel said, still grinning.

[ooc: do feel free to order Bel back in -- he's being a smartass. ;) ]

Peter Pevensie

Peter grinned. "Well, that was the easy way out, I suppose." He let his eyes adjust to the dark as well. "How shall we lesser mortals do it?"

"I think, perhaps, you should rejoin the others," Honor gave a taut smile, "and work your way out with the rest of them."

[Was planning on "strongly suggesting" it, anyway. =) ]

"I'm sure he'll be back to get the rest of us when he can." she said. "He was probably just going to make sure he didn't shimmer us into a wall or something..."

She looked around and knelt down.

"The smoke doesn't seem any thinner closer to the ground like with smoke from a fire... So we don't need to crawl."

Peter glanced around. "Just need to make sure to stay together so we don't leave anyone behind." He took a few steps in the direction he supposed the door was in and found a found. "Right, not this way then."

Bel pouted. "Fine, whatever," he muttered sulkily, and shimmered back into the maze.

Bel shimmered back in by Pippi and Peter. "So much for the easy way out," he pouted.

Nimitz chuckled as Bel shimmered out. Reaching up, Honor tapped him on the nose. "Enough from you, Stinker. Don't encourage the demon." A wry grin twitched at her lips.

Pippi patted his shoulder.

"There there. It was a good effort." she said. "Peter found the door. Let's move on. This way everybody!"

Pippi followed peter and walked into a wall. She rubbed her nose.

"Or not!"
