Belle did not know who had wrapped up books in brown paper and made very glittery signs about having a blind date with a book.

But she was intrigued by the idea. And so tempted to rip open the paper to see what was what, honestly. But she refrained. Someone else might be very into the mystery!

Not something we do at my library but it does seem fun. But it also seems like it would be a lot of work that would all have to be done by me...

Having finished The Hobbit Halfling, and then discovering there was a whole mess of material about that world and a full on trilogy of sequels, he was back in the library to see what he could hunt down.

But he was distracted by a concept he was not familiar with. Just what was a blind date?

"I'm afraid I don't understand this."

"You take the book without knowing the title, or what it's about," Belle said. "Just what's on the paper."

Which was very useful things like 'romance, sports' or 'cozy murder mystery' or 'cat romance' or 'this defies categorization' in one case.
