Quantum Physics 305: Thursday

[comes in looking slightly dazed...and confused...]

Hello, class. I'm the Doctor, and welcome to the Quantum Physics seminar. Since all of you have had time travel experience, I'm going to assume that you all have encountered the concept of a paradox. If you haven't, please raise your hand.

Today we are going to discuss the possible effects that paradoxes have on their perpetrators. For example, Marty McFly's causal paradox led him to slowly disintegrate both his family and himself. What other sorts of effects have paradoxes had, either ones that you have witnessed personally, or have heard of?

Homework will be assigned via email tomorrow.

*wanders into class*

Hello Doctor. It's good to see you again.

*smiles warmly*

Ivanova walks into class, looking slightly distracted and disappointed, but sits down and takes out a notebook.

"Hello, Doctor." She pauses. "Ah, you didn't happen to be in the park this afternoon (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomtownies/27352.html?thread=890072#t890072), did you?"

[[OOC: What the hell time is it for you? *cross eyes and scowls* It's bloody Friday already. G'night.]]

::raises hand::

There is, of course, the Blinovitch Limitation Effect. As well as other phenomena...

::remembers the time she ended up playing tug-of-war with herself for a particularly becoming hat at Harrods in 1926::

*Spock walking past over-hears the discussion and pokes his head in the room* "I have fathered a child who lived and died over 5,000 years before I was born."

*Spock notices the terrified looks of the students.*

"Perhaps this is a discussion for another time. Good day students, Doctor."

*Spock leaves, quickly back to the TARDIS to make personal journal about todays class*

(OOC: sorry, couldn't help myself! Please let me know if you don't want me poking my head in your classes.)

Nothing, really. Just the still in our backyard blew up, which in theory lobs a fireball directly at the park.

Anyway, as to your question - I don't believe I've encountered a paradox, even though several of my friends have encountered future or past versions of themselves. Sheridan told me of the one time when he was accidently shifted into his own future, and warned to not go to Z'ha'dum. Which, of course, meant that he went as soon as being restored to his own timestream.

"Well, there's the concept of wormholes, and the paradox that you could shape your present by something you haven't done yet."

Donnie looks around. "Am I even in this class?" he mumbles

*smiles appreciatively*

Thank you. That wasn't one of my finer moments.
