Students had been warned to bring gear for colder climates today, though when they arrived on the steps of the school, they would see Ghanima once again simply dressed in a tunic and light pants with sturdy boots, although Trebor was bundled-up accordingly.

She could regulate her body's processes. Her toddler could not.

"I hope you weren't hoping for beaches today," she said once everyone had assembled. "Because while you'll be seeing coastline, it's going to be a bit chilly."

"Today we are heading to Los Glaciares National Park in Santa Cruz, Argentina. The national park encompasses an area of 7,269 square kilometers, and it is the largest national park within the country of Argentina, and is a sister park with Torres del Paine National Park in Chile."

"The park is named for the Andes ice cap that is 30% of the national park area -- it is the largest glacier field in the world apart from Greenland and Antarctica. It serves as the source for 47 large glaciers with 13 of them flowing eastward toward the Atlantic Ocean. It is also home to Perito Moreno Glacier which is considered one of the more significant tourist attractions within the country."

"Today, we are going on the Perito Moreno Glacier Trail, which is one of their more popular trails. It is considered an 'easy' 4.7 km point-to-point trail that meanders through forests out to a lookout point providing a panoramic view of the glacier." She adjusted Trebor's hat over his ears as the portal appeared. "Now, let's get going!"

Take notes, tie your shoelaces, check and make sure you brought your gloves...it's currently a mostly-sunny 29F at the park!

Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of an hour and a half to complete. But don't worry, due to the magic of Portalocity, you *will* get back to Fandom an hour after you left, no matter how long you stay!

This route follows the network of stairway walkways, offering views of the spectacular Perito Moreno Glacier near El Calafate from different perspectives. You can walk the entire route or build your path, choosing which viewpoints to visit. The walkways are divided into circuits, each identified by a different color, making them easy to follow.

The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the largest freshwater reserves in the world and one of the few glaciers on the planet that is still advancing today. You can often see it in action, as chunks of ice frequently break off the glacier and fall with great force into Lago Argentino!

Ghanima also has meal vouchers for everyone at the park's restaurant. If you want something from the gift store, however, you are on your own.

Once the class had reached the conclusion of the hike, Ghanima held up a a number of brightly colored slips.

"I wouldn't subject you to a winter trek, without the chance to warm up at the end," she said cheerfully. "Dinner at El Resto del Glacier is on me, if you'd like to stay. I have a large table reserved, or feel free to go off on your own. Come grab a slip from me, so that you can be added to my tab."

"The portal to Fandom will remain available until sunset, if you'd like to go back out on your own."

Ghanima and Trebor are at a large round table with a fantastic view, if you care to join them.

For a barely two-year-old Trebor is behaving fantastically, though he is clearly having a marvelous time.

Want to go out and try one of the other designated hike trails, like the Tower Lake Trail, Lake of the Threes Trail, or even the Perito Moreno Glacier Big Ice Trail with Hielo & Aventura, the only authorized ice trek tour group? Go wild!

Gladio actually was wearing a coat! Was it because he knew that Nell would poke and prod and give him disappointed looks the whole time if he hadn't? Maaaaaybeeeeee. But his mind was pretty far from that once they got there, as he started stretching to get his muscles warmed up for the hike ahead of them, which he was definitely pretty excited for.
