Class met at Portalocity, of course, and today they would find their teacher dressed in her back-home clothes. And talking on her phone.

"No...no, honestly, Commander, it's fine." She sighed and facepalmed. "No, just tell Nox to put anything dangerous in the vault, where it belongs in the first place! And...yes, I appreciate that. No, I'll warn them. Thank you."

She hung up and faced the group. "Hello, everybody. Sorry about that; last-minute questions. Anyway, welcome to Galactic Tourism. I've been spending the longer classes going about Earth, but I know some of you enjoy seeing my galaxy, so that's what this is for."

Their portal opened, and she led them through onto a grassy area at the base of a cliff, a few mid-sized personal ships parked on the grass. It was temperate and breezy, forests around them, and those who were sensitive to that sort of thing would notice it was strong in the Force and balanced between Dark and Light.

"Welcome to Odessen. This is where I call home when I'm not at Fandom. I thought we'd start off with the fact that you're on a planet in another galaxy before I let you get mobbed by its inhabitants. This is the base of our organization which is trying to move from an alliance to a government of sorts. That means it's a rather busy hub of Force users, military, administrative types, scientists, and a group we'll call 'traders' to be polite." Smugglers and pirates. They were smugglers and pirates.

She led the way up a ramp and into the military hangar, a large, open level of plasteel open on one end to the cliffside. Troops of all species (and several different uniforms) moved around it, mostly with determination and purpose, though there was one group off to the side who seemed to be mostly gambling and pushing each other around. (Those of you who had been here before could play "spot the Mandalorians".)

A Rattataki man hurried over to greet the class, nodding to Lana. "Hello and welcome. We don't have anything planned -"

"Which was intentional," Lana broke in. "They're supposed to be seeing us in our natural habitat, not being entertained, Commander."

"You make us sound like zoo animals," the Commander grumped.

"Tell me Scourge isn't worse than a Rancor with a head cold," Lana retorted.

He sighed. "In any event," he told the class, "welcome to Odessen. Enjoy your time here, don't press any buttons you shouldn't, and be warned that if Dr. Oggurobb asks for tests or samples, they are probably invasive and you should ask questions first."

"After that," Lana concluded with a shrug, "what you choose to do for science is up to you. So, why don't we introduce ourselves? I'm Lana Beniko." She bowed. "Former Sith Lord, current Alliance advisor and Fandom instructor. I come from a planet called Dromund Kaas, grew up on a planet called Korriban, and now live here." She gestured around. "And on Fandom. I enjoy good whiskey, poetry, Earth rock music, and annoying politicians in ways they can't do anything about. Next!"

- A Force enclave, where you'll find a waterfall at one end of a mossy/grassy cavern and people meditating, levitating things, and sparring with lightsabers. You can watch, get help meditating, show off similar powers, or ask questions. (You cannot have a lightsaber.)

- A scientific lab, where you'll find one geeky-looking guy excited over artifacts, a bunch of physicists arguing, engineers blowing things up (in a controlled fashion!), and a Hutt with an eyepiece overseeing it all. You can ask about anything and they'll be happy to tell you! You might have the Hutt ask you about scientific tests to find how different human origins behave genetically.

- A hangar full of those "traders", which includes a bar and an impromptu marketplace, all of it overseen by a Mirialan woman. (A certain engineering Jawa is also here, and he is happy to talk about just about anything. And sell you anything.) You can watch, drink, trade, or help sort and move things.

- A lot of offices in very controlled chaos under the purview of a terrifyingly competent pureblood Sith. You can offer to be a gofer, sort papers, or get in the way. (Please don't get in the way.)

She's possibly multitasking, trying to get things done while also keeping an eye on everyone.

Summer Smith

"I'm Jack, you know me, you know me," Jack nodded at the Commander, "And I think the vintage answer is something about liking long walks on the beach, or something..."

Was he going to mess with her all summer? Absolutely.

The Commander nodded to Jack. "I still have your friend's hat if he'd like it back. I didn't realize you'd be here."

Lana just rolled her eyes. "But do you like beach walks? I'm sure we can find a planet with beaches."

"Please don't give it back," Jack said. "That's one less hat in my house, okay?"

He was gonna answer Lana in a minute! This was just more important.

Illyana Rasputin

"Illyana Rasputin. I like visiting new places so I can figure out if I can teleport there in a pinch." Yana knew Lana appreciated the honesty. "Why pay Portalocity fees, when I can zip across space and time?"

Charlie Gale

"Charlie Gale," she said cheerfully. "I'm from Canada and I'm a huge fan of fun and music."

Arden Finch

The Commander looked at him in confusion. "Are hats a problem?"

Lana nodded. "We'll drop by my quarters before we leave - if you do zip in, go there. Otherwise you're likely to end up with a lot of high-powered weaponry pointed at you."

The Commander looked pained.

"Go see the smugglers," Lana and the Commander answered in unison.

"Or the canteen," Lana added, "but there's a bar in the trade area, too."

Illyana looked interested.

"You know, I am easily bribed to test institutional readiness..."

It would be fun! For her!

Lana gave the Commander a thoughtful look. "That's actually not a bad idea. You never know when we might have a sleeper agent show up."

"Don't remind me." He eyed Illyana. "We can talk about it. I don't want any of Lana's friends getting hurt or blowing up our headquarters."

Belle

"I'm Belle, from the Marchlands in the kingdom of Misthaven in a world similar and yet very different from Earth. I love books," Belle said, because of course she did. "And the idea of adventures, and sometimes even actual adventures."

"We don't actually have as many books here as tablets," Lana said, "but you'll probably enjoy the library and archives." She paused. "Someone should probably introduce you down there. They can be a bit touchy about new people."

"Oh, I would love to see them," Belle said eagerly. "If that's allowed."

"It's allowed," the Commander assured her.

"Librarians can just get a little possessive," Lana confided.

Henry

"Henry," she introduced herself with a little wave. "I like making art." Nice and succinct.

"Welcome, Henry." Lana nodded to her. "I'll try to see if we can get some art in somewhere, then. For today, your best bet is probably either the 'traders'' den if you're feeling chaotic, or the Force enclave if you're more 'zen'. Either place is likely to have some sort of art."

"Some hats are," Jack said. Sagely.

"Ah, that I understand." He'd seen Sith fashion, too. "Though that one didn't seem too objectionable. Regardless, I'll keep it if you prefer."

"It's not that bad," Lana assured him. "He just prefers his boyfriend without them."

The Commander laughed. "I understand that, too. May yours not make the terrible fashion choices mine has."

"I think we've already passed that station," said Jack, mostly out of obligation, because if he'd met Theron he would have to immediatly retract that. He looked to Lana. "Look, I'm just along for the ride," he said. "You don't need my wishlist."

Lana shrugged. "Fine by me. Go wherever you want, try not to piss people off unless they deserve it, be back here in time or get your own portal home. Cause too much trouble, and I'll tell the Jedi who you are."

She liked to think she knew her audience when making threats.
