Teamwork- Monday, May 12

Jag still wasn't sure about the teaching thing. He had no intention of being here long enough to make it through the session, but he also didn't hate the distraction.

Jaina on the other hand had dealt with the moose before, she'd resigned herself to her fate. She'd worked the Danger Shop up to look like a classroom, like she'd done fixed if times before.

"Good morning,," Jaina greeted them. "I'm Jaina, this is Jagged, and this is Teamwork."

There was just the slightest Look on Jag's face at being introduced by his first make. He was not used to that. He wasn't sure he liked it. He soldiered on anyway. "In this class you're going to be faced with scenarios that will test your ability to work in groups. It's fairly straightforward. We'll be meeting here unless otherwise specified."

"And since we're right at the start of the first week of classes, we're going to go easy on you," Jaina said. "We're going to do a round of introductions, tell us your name and why you're here, and then you can leave early while we work on the rest of the syllabus from that."

Once they were dismissed, the door to the classroom wouldn't open. It seemed pretty good and stuck. Also the windows were definitely fake.

There were grates, however, and there were moddable tools hidden in places around the standard classroom to help you get out. Naturally, by working together.

Jag and Jaina were still there and being absolutely no help.

"I'm Cal Kestis, and this is BD-1," he said as BD beeped Hello! "I just recently became part of a team again, and I'm not exactly great at it. I got used to doing things on my own, so I need more practice with letting other people help."

"Illyana Rasputin. I am not a 'people person,'" she said, making the air quotes with her fingers, "--But one of my primary talents is teleportation, which is most useful in a team-setting and working with others. So I have to learn how not to ignore other people and their ideas, even when they are stupid."

There was very likely never going to be a "no powers" rule so it was best to check.

This was Luma's first class of anything ever, unless you counted private tutoring, which she absolutely did not. So she was feeling uncertain and wary and trying her best not to show it, and she was definitely going to watch the others introduce themselves and pay attention to what they included before she was going to feel ready to know what she was doing or what she would say. But, finally, she did come around to going for it and taking her turn.

"I'm Luma Zarrin," she said. "I...'ve been told that I'm not very good at working with other people, so I guess I'm here to learn how to be better at that."

She said it in a tone that seemed to convey sympathy for the job her instructors had in front of them.

"A former Jedi Master, a Nightsister, and the Latero who keeps us all in the air. Sometimes, it's just about making sure everyone gets along," Cal said. "I trust all of them, but I've probably got to get better at showing it."

"It would be weirder if you weren't," Jaina admitted.

"One of my fathers says my powers are part of my problem," Yana admitted. "I am also a sorcerer, so it is very easy for me to try and solve everything with either magic or teleportation by myself, rather than involve or risk others."

"I am more than willing to use my powers in class. But I will also respect a no-powers rule, if it is in place for an exercise."

There was a pause, as Luma took a moment to consider the scant experience she'd even had working with people.

"No," she admitted, "but I do think I'm better at it than I'm given credit for."

After all, she wasn't the one who was sent away for eating someone. She'd never actually eaten anyone, which should practically make her a saint.

"I'm Arden Finch, and, ah...I've never really been on a team before? Except maybe once or twice in Shenanigans," Arden said. "And learning how to be on a team and hold my own and not just kinda go along what everybody else wants seems to be a good skill to have."

Seriously? Illyana rolled her eyes.

"So, I see three different options for us here," she said dryly. "One, we do this the way our fearless leaders clearly intend. Two, I simply teleport us all out of here to get ice cream. Three, we place our ice cream orders online, and I have it delivered here for us while we work through their puzzle."

This was teamwork, right? She wasn't just blinking out and leaving everyone else behind!

"There will be no going along with the crowd," Jaina assured her. Because of course if they see that then they'd engineer something about it.

Arden just glanced at Dean Skywalker and then back at Jaina. This was her politely dubious face. "Yes, ma'am."

"I'm appreciating this ice cream forward approach," Arden said with a soft laugh. "Ummm...order it and work? You never know when experience crawling through vents or whatever will come in handy."

"I have my priorities in order," Illyana said with a smirk. "I will not apologize for it."

Also, she had a pathological hate for even the idea of being trapped or confined. Covering it up with sarcasm and ice cream before she started twitching? Was for everyone's wellbeing.

"--And since this class was dad's idea, everyone's order can go on his credit card," she continued, getting her phone out of her back pocket. "That's just using my resources."

"Never apologize for brilliant ideas," Arden said piously. "Especially when they're being used to boost morale and the spirit of teamwork."

Cal grinned and waved back. "Hey, do classes you didn't sign up for sometimes end up on your schedule?"

He had not signed up for a relaxation class, thank you very much.
