Due to various circumstances, Gladio was a bit late in getting Ignis one of his birthday presents, and he figured it was something he could tie easily into his class, too. In case anyone was wondering why there were two more extra chocobros with him when the class was meeting at the portalocity office for class that morning.

"Today," he informed them, "we're kind of going against the whole Let's Play Some Sports of the class title, and we're just going to go watch some sports. Specifically, we're going to head to a basketball game. Which we'll try ourselves next week, so if you're familiar with basketball already, great. Sit back and enjoy the game. And if you're not, well, try and pay attention and see if you can figure out some of the rules or if there's anything you can't figure out to ask about and hopefully have answered next week. But for now, let's head on out and get to see that game!"

And if anyone was wondering why Gladio thought going to watch a basketball game would be any sort of interest to Ignis, well....that had an awful lot to do with who was playing and where and the great accessibility technology they had embraced for their audience.

Ready to catch a game!

Well, there isn't much of one, but go ahead and get settled in your seats (they're not great, no, but, hey, free basketball game!) and if anyone wants any snacks, let Gladio know!

Mod the fake game to your heart's content! Get super into it! Get bored and take a nap! Be utterly confused by what's even happening here! Live your best basketball game spectator life.

Oh, you know he's probably going to get super into it. If it's a good game, he'll be completely invested, and if it isn't a good game? He'll be heckling the players to pick it up the loudest.

Nell was far more interested in Ignis' delight than she was in the game. It was a fun game though, and while she wasn't a big yeller, she did enjoy listening to Gladio yell.

"This was a wonderful idea," Nell said with a smile, glancing over at Ignis again. "Where did you ever find out about this?"

Gladio shrugged like it was no big deal, but it was pretty evident he was mentally patting himself on the back so much that Ignis could probably actually hear it.

"The internet," he said. "I was trying to find something a little new and different to get Igs for his birthday, and, after following a few rabbit trails, I tripped on this whole thing and thought 'well, that's it. We're taking him to enjoy some sportsball.'"

"It's really amazing," Nell assured him. Not that she was surprised. It just further cemented her belief about how kind and thoughtful he was - especially to those he loved.

"I'm not sure I'll ever be a big basketbakk fan, though."

"Yeah," Gladio huffed a little with amusement, "me, neither, if I'm honest. If I'm going team sports, it's hockey every time."

Cuz of the fights.

Rugby and football were pretty up there, too.

"But it's not bad to just shoot around a little sometimes."

Nell grinned at him. "Pretty sure I know why that is." They certainly were more up his alley.

"Well, since I'm pretty sure that's what we'll be doing next week, I hope it's fun." She leaned her head against his arm. "Maybe you should just carry me around and lift me up so I can toss the ball in."
