Once again, the class was in the danger shop classroom (lots of little spaceships and little green men flying around outside the window this time), but they clearly were not going to be there for long.

"Don't get too comfortable," Summer warned them, as she pushed herself off of her desk and waved her phone at them a little bit. "We'll be heading out as soon as I finish my little lecture preamble dealy. We've been talking a lot of concepts in the past two classes, and now we're finally getting out there for some first hand extradimensional experience, and I'm starting with a classic that I feel highlights the point about how different even two seemingly related dimensions can actually be from each other. There are, of course, infinite examples of this, because, like, hello, infinite universes, but my favorite one to pull out for this class is actually Pluto. No, not the god or the dog, but the once former planet."

The helpful hologram of Pluto now popping up for everyone to witness was probably wholly unnessary, but, whatever, it looked cool. There was now a compartment opening up with several classic-style astronaut suits waiting inside, as well.

"We'll be making two stops today: the first is going to be the version of Pluto from this dimension, which is literally pretty much just a freezing-ass rock hurtling through space, which is where these fancy space suits are going to come in. Unless you've got some mega super powers beyond human conditioning, you're gonna want these out there. And then once we've had a look at this dimension's Pluto, we're heading over to my dimension's Pluto, which is absolutely nothing like it and actually has a thriving civilization, despite them once honoring my dad because my dad supported their status of planethood." She waved a dismissive hand. "It was a whole thing. Anyway! So, this dimension's Pluto first, so let's all find a suit that fits, make sure you've got it on right, and we'll head out! I mean, unless there's any questions before we do?"

Interstellar!

Yup! You're going to Pluto! Two Plutos! And if you have any questions before you go, now's a good time to ask them, even if what you're going to ask about is the whole 'former planet' bit because, of all Summer knows, Pluto still is a planet in your dimension! That's the fun of all this!

Once everyone was suited up and ready to go, Summer pulled their portal from her app and ushered everyone through to the vastness of space and the desolation of a former planet.

"We won't be here too long," she said, gesturing around her. "A whole lot of nothing. Take a few moments, look around a little, just sort of enjoy being on fucking Pluto for a hot minute, and then we're going to hop on over to my dimension's version of Pluto. But for now? Just enjoy the nothingness for a while, I guess, and don't go wandering off, I don't want to lose one of my students on a fucking planetoid before we're even finished with the first month of class.

So enjoy Pluto, everyone! Sure, it's not much, but at least it's not New Jersey!

"Okay!" Summer clapped her hands once she'd gotten the most out of the selfie potential of a place she'd been more times than she'd like to admit. "I think we get the point. Now let's head to the Pluto of my dimension. Same planetoid, different universe, and, well...you'll see."

There was then another portal called up and, with stepping through it, the students would find themselves on a planet with a very similar surface and make-up, with a few notable exceptions, which involved instead of the greyish-tan of the last Pluto, this one seemed rather blue and green in color, and it was occupied by something, a city of tall, almost mushroom-like buildings appearing around them, and Summer took a moment to take off the helmet of her suit and breathe in the now completely breathable air.

"This," she said, "is my dimension's Pluto. Home to the Plutonians and a rich resource of...you guessed it...plutonium, it is clearly a much more...habitated planet that the one in the universe we just came from. And while the Pluto in that dimension will likely just continue to exist, this Pluto is actually in danger of being mined so thoroughly that it might one day collapse in on itself. Hopefully not today!

"Anyway, on that bright little note, feel free to look around a little bit and compare. The Plutonians themselves'll probably give us a wide berth, my dad got into this whole thing with the king here ages ago, not to mention all the stuff with the Galactic Federations, but anyway, if you really wanted to talk to one, we can arrange something."

So enjoy a very different Pluto than the one you just saw, and Summer'll summon everyone together once it's time to portal back to Fandom.

No, she wasn't there for the whole Pluto plot, but, well, she's picked up enough from various different versions to figure she had a pretty good grasp on it.

The nothing truly didn't impress Percy. No, instead he was obsessed with the space suit and was poking at the various controls on it learning what each did with absolutely nerdy joy.

"Percy," Summer stated, once she realized what he was doing, "you need that to breathe, sweetie, please don't do that. I don't want to fill out dead student paperwork because you got too fiddly with your spacesuit. But you can have one to poke at as much as you want once we're back on a planet with oxygen, kaaaaaay?"

Percy took off his helmet and managed to pull out his notebook, taking notes on what Summer had said and then starting to take notes on everything about this version of Pluto as it was definitely more interesting than the previous one.

"Oh, I promise I won't do anything that will cause me to die or implode," Percy replied. "However the amount of features on this suit is simply amazing. I don't suppose this suit is impervious to acid?"

You'd be amazed at how many times he's had to deal with acid, Summer.

Oh, considering how many times is this spacesuit impervious to acid? had been an important question in her own life, she honestly wouldn't be all that surprised.

Summer looked a bit skeptical at that promise, but she shook her head. "These ones? Probably not. Please do not test that until we at least get to Pluto #2."

Which seemed to imply that she figured ready access to acid was even available to him at that moment. Look, she knew not to discount anything.
