Exploring American History, Wednesday, September 11, 2024
This week held just Tony and.. well Steve was there too, just as a dog. Which was just how this place was sometimes. Even if the class was taking a portal to Pennsylvania this time around. It was a dog friendly portal.
"Welcome back," Tony said, waving to the class. "We've moved on from Boston to Philadelphia for the Liberty Bell... and sure. You can also get a cheesesteak if you want."
Look, they'd learned from the Dunkin last week.
"The bell was essentially just a bell with the inscription 'Proclaim LIBERTY Throughout all the Land unto all the Inhabitants Thereof" that was ordered and made a few decades prior to the American Revolution, ending up hidden away under floor boards to prevent British forces from taking and meeting it down for armaments during that time," Tony said. "The famous crack in the bell came in the following century when it because a symbol of the abolitionist movement with that inscription being the key factor as to why. Lincoln actually gave his inauguration speech in the same building where the bell was being kept and later, after his assassination, mourners came through to pay their respects there as well."
Tony waved out to the area around them for the class. "But enough from me, go ahead and explore, see what catches your eye."
