Stark’s class was meeting outside the Portalocity office as they’d all been ~~handwavily~~ informed.

“Welcome,” he said, nodding to everyone and trying not to look nervous. “We’re going to meet here every week before we head to our destinations. I’m Stark, in case any of you don’t know. We’ll do introductions in a moment, quickly, before we leave. So we’ll all know each other at least a little before we go somewhere.”

“So. Every week we’re going somewhere related to food. Factory tours or food museums, things like that. This week we’ll be going to Vermont to visit an ice cream factory.” He looked around for Steven and/or Watts. “They have vegan options as well, in case that’s a concern for anyone. I want you all to be able to enjoy these little trips. If there are any foods you need to avoid please let me know. I don’t want anyone to be harmed.”

He nodded again. “Let’s introduce ourselves then, before we go to our Ben & Jerry’s factory tour. I’m Stark, as I said. My favorite food is cupcakes but I haven’t found any locations to visit for that yet. I’m still looking.” He looked around then, waiting for someone else to introduce themselves.

Screaming for ice cream?

Your name. Maybe a favorite food. Or just some random thing about yourself. You know how this goes.

The class is taking a portal to Waterbury, Vermont to visit the Ben & Jerry’s factory there. There will be some dad jokes about cows. There will be viewing of ice cream manufacturing. There will be a trip to the flavor graveyard to pay respects to the dearly de-pinted flavors. There will be a tasting. There will be, of course, a shop where more ice cream can be obtained and perhaps some souvenirs. Have fun!

Through the magic of portals there's plenty of time for everything.

When a friend went on the factory tour she came back and reported that her favorite joke had been “how do we know our cows are good at their jobs? Because they’re all out standing in their fields!”

Steven Grant

"Hello," Steven said with a wave. "I'm Steven. With a V. Er, suppose the thing to mention is I'm vegan. But I understand that might not always be possible to accommodate. Chuffed to bits to be here."

Steven was fascinated by it all. Though perhaps unsurprisingly the dad jokes were a particular favorite.

Raiden

"I'm Raiden," Raiden said with a nod to the group. "I love pizza. I just love food, really, but pizza's my favorite. You could probably figure that out, though," he said with a rueful grin and a rub of his hand over the top of his cap. "And I'm excited to be here and get to learn about and hopefully eat some food!" He was a very simple guy, okay?

Summer Smith

"Hiiiiiii," Summer said, brightly, cutely, etc, etc, etc. "I'm Summer. My favorite food is probably paaaaaancakes--not the cat, and not jello, ohmygod, that's like asking an artist if their favorite food is paint--and now I know why someone didn't want to tell me where we were going for class today."

Because if she'd have known, she'd have come prepared and brought her own flies.

(Not really, like, Ben & J's was the tits and weren't even on the boycott list anymore, the last time she checked, but it was still funny to think about).

Llewellyn Watts

"Llewellyn Watts. Watts, please. Or Detective if you must. I too keep vegan." Mostly. Unless someone left their leftovers within his reach. "And I am especially fond of a good soft pretzel."

Steph Gingrich

Charlie Gale

"Charlie Gale," she said. "And I'll try pretty much anything at least once!"

"Good to have you here," Stark said. "And I'll do my best to make sure there are things you can enjoy."

"Looking forward to seeing new places either way," Steven promised.

He then tried to give Stark a subtle two thumbs up to indicate he was doing great so far. It was Steven though so not actually that subtle.

"That was part of it," Stark admitted, grinning at her. "Hi, Summer."

"I hadn't thought about pretzels," Stark mused. "I'll look into it. Hello, Watts."

"Hello, Charlie. I hope you enjoy the class, then. There should be lots of things to try."
