Creature Languages, 5/4, Period 3

Dream stands before the class, arms folded, Matthew perched on his shoulder.

"This is my very last class at Fandom High, and it is not without regret that I take my leave. I know this class was difficult for many of the humans among you; thank you for being open to other languages, other creatures, other cultures. I hope it will prove useful, or at least interesting, as your lives progress."

"After you turn in your final projects, you may leave, or talk to me or to each other."

Dream went to close the classroom door at that point, and Matthew hopped onto his desk; in sotto voce Raven, the bird added, //Thanks for listening to my boss. I think you guys made him pretty happy. He'll miss you.//

Overhearing some of this, Dream fixed him with a glare, but his lips quirked into a slight smile.

[OOC: Hand in the interview if you got a chance to do one; if not, handwave away. I do need to know what grade your character got on the project by Friday evening so I can get the final grades in. I know [livejournal.com profile] courier_gavin is AFK; please let me know if anyone else is.]

Walter turns in a project that started out primarily as an interview in Cat with Furrball (http://nadiathesaint.livejournal.com/34950.html) but which morphed into a linguistic compare and contrast including his encounter and failed talk with a shark (http://strongestgirl.livejournal.com/35742.html) and a discussion with a lobster (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/800238.html) in which his wee self picked up some rather unorthodox vocabulary. He probably has some interesting insights into the fact that it's much easier to speak Shark underwater and with gills.

It's A work and he's put a lot of effort into it since he's had to miss a few key classes because of unavoidable crises. He's hoping for brownie points at the least and extra credit at best.

Pippi turns in a lengthy discussion she had with Mr. Neilson. It's less an interview and more a discussion on how they communicated with eachother before she learned to speak Monkey. She also has a small section on how it is easier to speak shark underwater with gills and a selection of lobster curse words.

Not exactly what she was assigned, but it's A work.

For Mr. Neilson's part he turns in a paper covered in paw pints. Dream could probably read it.

He actually interviewed the lobster while Weetiny Pippi and Walter were off freeing the other lobster. Said lobster was very crabby (yuck yuck), and the answers are filled with even more colorful language then either Walter or Pippi indicated in their own papers.

Pippi is very sad that Dream is leaving.

And nobody can look as sad as Pippi when Pippi is sad.

Zero turns in her interview with a seven-legged spider she found in her room, in which she managed to hit all the key points and even get in some specific details. The actual interview would be linked to, but the mun sucks and forgot to actually do it. There are a few minor translation errors, however. Once again, her policy that using Cat for this class would be cheating has come back to bite her in the arse. B+

Molly's interview with a sewer rat may not be the most well written paper ever, but it is interesting reading and there are only a couple of translation errors. C+

Blair's interview with the snake is dry and for some reason there's a lot of talk about relationships. But the translation is spot on. A.

Blair bounced sadly. "You're a great teacher, Professor. I'll miss having your class each week."
