"Last call for final presentations," said Jenny.

OOC: Feel free to handwave, naturally. Please tell me what grade your character deserves for the course and the presentation.

Do you mind if I drop Krycek's presentation into the last class, so he could have done it before he left?

Oh, God, no, I don't care at all! Whatever works best for your timeline.

Xander signed in. Yup.

Xander has handouts. They look like stick figures. That's 'cause they are.

If Buffy were here, she wouldn't complain about the hips being too wide, but she'd lift an eyebrow at the size of the tiny stick-figure bazoombas.

"Okay so once upon a time, there was a Girl. But actually it kinda goes like this. Once upon a time there was no girl, and there were demons, and somebody thought they had to do something about it, so they took a girl, little g, and they screwed up her life and turned her into a Girl, big G, and from then on, there was always a once upon a time with a Girl in it. With me so far? {glazed eyes} Riiiiiight.

Okay, so once upon a time there was a Girl who was a Vampire Slayer, that better? And they never have real great lives to start with, or real long ones, but this one had an especially shitty one laid out for her, pardon my non-French. Laid out, because there was a prophecy. A bunch, probably, because there always are with Girls big g, but this one came true -- sort of -- during our... um, her sophomore year, and it went something like this:

The Master will kill the Slayer, and he'll rise, and demons will pour out of this skanky hole in the ground under the library, and we'll all have a fine old time.

I paraphrase a little.

So okay, there's a prophecy, and maybe you can get away from those and maybe you can't. Let's say this is one that's just... Fate. You can't. Nobody's ever got away from a prophecy that came out of this book.

Except in one timeline, there's a Girl, big G, still walking around, and in another, there's not.

One reality, she walked straight into it knowing...or well, thinking, she was gonna die, and hating every second of it. And she did. He left her for dead face down in a pool of water, and she choked. And the Master rose, and demons poured out of the hole in the ground.

Another, she never came to the town with the skanky hole in the ground til way late. Had what you'd call a longer life before she met up with him, if you can call it a life, since she didn't really have any friends, wasn't allowed to care about anything but her job. And she walked straight into it knowing she could die and not caring, because that was what she was there for. And she did. He broke her neck. And the Master rose, and demons poured out of the hole in the ground.

Except in the first one, after she died, she came back to life. She had some friends who helped her out. Prophecy didn't say anything about that, and... it's not like she beat Fate in one world and didn't in the other. Take it literally and the same things happened. But..."

Xander shrugs. "In one timeline, there's a Girl, big G, still walking around, and in another, there's not."

"Just saying that it's hard to say what exactly fate or destiny mean, even if you can see the future. Might not be your future. Might not mean what you think it means. Might not be able to change it, might, might not even want to, but you never know 'til you get there."

Was gonna handwave. Didn't. *sops brain up off floor with damp Swiffer*

Jenny? Might be all kinds of pleased-looking with this presentation. For some odd and funky reason. You know. Like it sounds familiar maybe.

Dude. I lint you way more than any kind of pie right now.

Was gonna remember to do grades too, la la la, then got disconnectedated.

I....have no idea, because grades are an insane characterization point with Xander at FH. He already got better grades last semester than he ever would've at Sunnydale, due to participation alone, and he actually is *more* motivated this semester, actually picked subjects he cared about, and they'd be unlikely to slip.

B on the presentation, A- in the class? *flails and continue sto actually have no idea*

And say 'actually' a lot.

Well, I hadn't been planning on mocking you for it, but if you want me to, I can change those plans. ;)

Nah, I see what you mean. Though Jenny's likely to grade Xander generously--though still fairly--based partly on the fact that he's actually working and seems to be enjoying the subject.

Sakura signed in, 'cause... yeah. She didn't do her presentation yet. >>;

~~Because mun is lazy, she is handwaving the actual content of this presentation.... cough.~~ Sakura actually did some research and made sure she covered everything necessary... although toward the end of the presentation it seems that what she has lost its steam and perhaps fell asleep on the floor. Not that she did while completing this, or anything. Of course not. All in all, she covers all the bases, if not a little vaguely. Overall? Probably ~C, depending on Jenny's attitude on Sakura's continual absences.

Uhh... considering I fail at life? I'd say Sakura's grade is at your descretion. I figure she passed, but whether it was by the skin of her teeth or not is up to you, if I'm allowed to leave that to you. Lookit that, I'm even lazy when giving my character a grade... yeesh. I say C, C-, something like that. She wasn't an outstanding student by any means, and she wasn't always there... but she was kinda interested. XD;
