Smiling sweetly as ever, Summer stood in front of the classroom and, once everyone was settled in, she held up something dark green and round, almost like some kind of tiny dragon egg from times of yore, but most people would recognize it for what it truly was.

Stark, of course, recognized it but he had the advantage of knowing in advance what the theme of the week was. Also he knew what Summer had in her hand was not merely an avocado but a device capable of culinary horrors.

"Avocados!" she announced. "Or, if you're fancy, freesh avah-cadoo, staple for Mexican cuisine and the downfall of many of a millennial. But ingredient for cupcakes? Hmmm. Maybe! Anything could be an ingredient for a cupcake if you try hard enough, and, actually, avocado is often used in a lot of vegan baking, to add a sort of richness without the use of eggs or butter. It's actually known to pair very well with chocolate, a combination of which could make for a really rich cupcake.

"They're also very well known for being the base of guacamole," Summer continued happily, "and guacamole is exactly what I decided to make my cupcakes with this week!"

Stark had been watching and listening with interest. He had used avocados before and that had been fine but guacamole was something entirely different. “With onions, Summer? In the cupcakes?” He sighed and shook his head. “Or something worse?” There were so many options!

“I’ve used avocado with chocolate before. Summer’s right,” Stark continued. She usually was. “It does work well even though it seems odd. So I’ve made some chocolate avocado cupcakes again today. They’re vegan, too.” Maybe Stark ought to offer some to Steven or Watts.

“So, go ahead and try to make something of your own. I would prefer you avoided onions but I can’t stop any of you.” And Stark wouldn’t even dream of trying to stop Summer.

Holy Guacamole!

Wonder what the poor avocados did to deserve this.

How will you navigate around using an avocado for a cupcake?

Ask if avocado cupcakes are as detrimental to financial health as avocado toast is! At least one of your teachers will be totally lost.

Summer figured avocados would be a good, easy, post-vacation class. So you're welcome???

Also, she may have just found the guacamole cupcake recipe while high, and it was too good to just pass up.

Anakin Skywalker

Stark was eyeing Summer's cupcakes with some concern while nibbling on one of his chocolate ones.

He was also eyeing Summer a bit. Not with concern. Just because.

Anakin was making avocado and lime cupcakes. He might even add cilantro to the frosting, mostly to make Stark sad.

Anakin definitely reacted in a healthy way to this class.

"I think I'll skip yours this week," Stark said eventually.

"I think I would rather eat guacamole with chips than in s cupcake."

If she got him high again all bets were off though.

Stark was watching Anakin suspiciously. Very suspiciously.

"You skip my cupcake every week," Summer pointed out, trying to pout and seem all torn up about it, but there was no way she was successfully pulling that off.

And now she was wondering if she should just blow everyone's minds next week and do completely normal ones.

"And here I thought you were a cupcake fan! Picking regular chips and guac over a cupcake!"

"I love cupcakes," Stark said. "But some things are better with chips than with cake, Summer. And...sometimes I try yours. I try a lot of things for you."

Sometimes against his better judgement.

"I promise to try some jello tomorrow."

No guarantees which jellos though.

"Would you try guac and chips in a jello shot?" asked Summer.

No reason.

"Would I be rewarded if I did?" Stark responded.

Summer eyed Stark speculatively for a good, long time, as if she really needed to consider this one carefully.

"...yes," she finally decided, surprising everyone, no doubt.

"Can I choose my reward?" Stark asked. Okay, maybe he was feeling a little bold at the moment. Just a little. It probably wouldn't last long.

And that kind of behavior, however fleeting, shouldn'r go unrewarded.

Summer looked Stark up and down with a grin that may have already thought of what a few of those rewards might be.

"Within reason," she said. "I get veto power.

"...line item veto," she amended.

"Line item veto?" Stark echoed. "I'm...not sure what that means?"

He wasn't going to ask for anything too objectionable. He would never.

"That's when I can veto particular parts of it but keep other parts," Summer explained. "No point in throwing out the whole reward just because of a few off details."

"I'll try not to come up with anything you'll want to get rid of," Stark said after a moment.

"I want you to be happy, you know."

Hey, hey, hey. Don't be bringing that sincerity into this, Stark!

But, of course, it was Stark, so it really couldn't be helped.

"I know," she said, her smile a soft, somewhat reluctant concession to that sincerity. "But it is for a guacamole jello shot. Wouldn't want to let it go to waste."

"I'll think on it and try to come up with something good," Stark promised. "But maybe...not too good?"

Summer just sort of looked at Stark for a moment before she decided that, fuck it, she would just go ahead and ask.

"Why wouldn't you want it to be too good?"

"Nothing so good you won't agree to it," Stark told her, grinning.

Summer looked overtly suspicious of that grin, even if she was sporting a little bit of one herself.

"The idea," she told him, "is to come up with something so good, that I won't want to do anything but agree."

"I'll keep that in mind," Stark assured her. "For tomorrow night."
