In the Cupcake of Good and Evil, Tuesday 2nd Period [1/23]
Unfortunately, students, your classroom was not a music-free zone. However, you would be able to stuff baked goods in your mouth or the mouth of someone else to stop any singing that might occur! Your teachers weren’t singing yet, though. Give them time.
“Today,” Stark said before Summer could begin with anything truly horrible (or musical, or horribly musical), “we thought we might work on the cake itself.”
Summer lifted a little bit of a brow at Stark's attempt to get ahead of the situation, because surely, he had to know that that was pretty much like trying to get ahead of a train barreling down the tracks, right? But then she grinned and nodded. "That's right," she agreed. "Presentation and gimmicks'll only really get you so far, if the actual cake part of the cake is garbage. Unless, of course, that's what you're going for…."
Was that….was that music starting? That was definitely music starting, and instead of questioning it or thinking that maybe her phone had accidentally opened her Spotify or Pandora, Summer was apparently going to just jump right in and sing along.
"I pile on the candy," and to prove the lyrics, Summer pulled out a yet-undecorated cake and just dumped handfuls of candy pieces onto it, "It's such a pretty sight!
It makes the food taste dandy
But my tummy hurts all night.
"I'll put in some ingredients,
But keep the rest for me."
Giving the class a wink, she popped a mini-sized candy bar into her mouth, then shrugged, oh-so-innocent.
"I'm not just disobedient!
I'm careful, can't you see??"
Stark gave her a look before turning to face the class and then, of course, he also started singing in a gently chiding way.
“It's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake
If the way is hazy
You gotta do the cooking by the book
You know you can't be lazy!”
He pointed to a cookbook on the counter, then looked at Summer and wagged a finger in her direction.
“Never use a messy recipe
The cake will end up crazy
If you do the cooking by the book
Then you'll have a cake”
He grinned now, holding out a hand towards Summer before opening his mouth to sing once more.
“We gotta have it made
You know that I love cake
Finally it's time to make a cake”
Summer gave that offered hand a skeptical look, but, ultimately, it did feel like the thing to do to just take it, so she did as she continued with the song.
"Making food is just like science," she sang, "with tools that blend and baste
And every fun appliances
Gives the food a different taste!"
Stark nodded approvingly along with Summer’s new lyrics, swinging their linked hands in time with the beat, before repeating the chorus. That was what a chorus was for, wasn’t it?

Yes, they really were going to end this with a very goofy high-five on the last word of the song. It was that kind of morning.
“Cake!”
Then….there was a pause. A long pause, almost as if Summer was afraid to open her mouth, despite the clear finality in that last word and that high-five at the end. And then, mustering up the bravery to chance it, she cleared her throat and stated, "Right. So that's a thing we're doing today, I guess. Cool. Very cool. I guess today's good and evil is all in how quietly you can manage to make them…."
So, good luck?

Lol, buddy, as if that would work.

"At least I won't be singing Christmas songs to you this time?" Stark offered tentatively.
Because that would just be weird right now.

"Who knows," Stark echoed.
Hey, no music!
Yet.
"What if we sang something on purpose?"
Re: Talk to the Teachers [1/23]
The real trick would then be to find someone good and basic and not likely to be...problematic.
"Free Bird?" she tried, which was the first basic-ass everysong that popped into her head, and, of course, the island very helpfully started to provide the music, skipping ahead so Summer could just start singing.
"If I leave here tomorrow......."
Oh nooooo.
"Would you still remember me?
For I must be traveling on now."
No! Bad choice! Abort! Abort!
"'Cause there's too many places I've got to see."
But, of course, the song was starting, and Summer couldn't stop it now no matter how much she might be regretting such a flippant, unthinking suggestion.
"But if I stay here with you, boy
Things just couldn't be the same
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird you cannot cha~aa~aange
Oh, oh, oh, oh
And the bird you cannot cha~aange
And this bird, you cannot chaaaaaaaaaange
Lord knows, I can't chaaaaaaange..."
Oh, thank god, it was time for a music break.
Re: Talk to the Teachers [1/23]
"I don't want to change you," he began. And then, of course, some more music started.
"Don't go changing to try and please me
You never let me down before, mm
And don't imagine you're too familiar
And I don't see you anymore
I would not leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far, mm
I took the good times, I'll take the bad times
I take you just the way you are"
See? No need for changing!
"I said, “I love you,” that's forever
And this, I promise from the heart, mm
I couldn't love you any better
I love you just the way you are"
Re: Talk to the Teachers [1/23]
And she almost felt tempted to think of another song just to make sure that Stark didn't keep going with that one, but, considering how well that workout out last time...
Re: Talk to the Teachers [1/23]
He looked longingly at the door as he did so, worried he'd already done too much damage.
Re: Talk to the Teachers [1/23]
" Primadonna girl," it started, with a note of apology to it and Summer's expression as the words began to pour out of her,
"All I ever wanted was the world.
I can't help that I need it all
The primadonna life, the rise and fall...
You say that I'm kinda difficult,
The smile took a turn toward the performatively innocent as she stepped in closer,
"But it's always someone else's fault..."
A finger found his chest, dragging down it with the next words,
"Got you wrapped around my finger, babe
You can count on me to misbehave.
"Primadonna girl."
Her eyes battled a little as she pulled herself away, only to turn around to press her back into Stark's chest and looked over her shoulders at him,
"Would you do anything for me?
Buy a big," her hand fanned out in front of her, "diamond ring for me?"
And she turned again, that hand now on Stark's shirt, pulling him down a little with her...
"Would you get down on your knees for me?"
Straightening again, she pushed away with a little distance.
"Pop that pretty question, right now baby
"Beauty queen on a silver screen," she was now just sort of dancing with the words, with big-eyed, almost sultry glances thrown Stark's way in the meantime,
"Living life like I'm in a dream
I know I've got a big ego
I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though.
"And I'm sad to the core, core, core
(Yeah) Every day is a chore, chore, chore
(Wow) When you give, I want more, more, more
I wanna be adored."
A shrug, an apologetic smile, and then right back to it.
"Cause I'm a Primadonna girl, yeah
All I ever wanted was the world
I can't help that I need it all
The primadonna life, the rise and fall
You say that I'm kinda difficult
But it's always someone else's fault
Got you wrapped around my finger, babe
You can count on me to misbehave
Primadonna girl
"Fill the void up with celluloid
Take a picture, I'm with the boys
Get what I want 'cause I ask for it
Not because I'm really that deserving of it
"Living life like I'm in a play
In the limelight, I want to stay
I know I've got a big ego
I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though
Going up, going down, down, down
(Yeah) Anything for the crown, crown, crown
(Wow) When the lights dimming down, down, down
I spin around!"
And she did spin, the dancing having reached that energy, and by the time she spun out, there was a sigh, a shift in the mood, just slightly.
"'Cause I'm a Primadonna girl, yeah
All I ever wanted was the world
I can't help that I need it all
The primadonna life, the rise and fall
You say that I'm kinda difficult
But it's always someone else's fault
Got you wrapped around my finger, babe
You can count on me to misbehave
"Primadonna girl, yeah
All I ever wanted was the world..."
Re: Talk to the Teachers [1/23]
Yes, she wanted the world. He wanted to give her all that he could. He knew he was wrapped around her finger. Everyone knew that. He was fine with it. He was happy with that.
Once she'd finished, and he'd swallowed the massive amount of cupcake in his mouth (somehow not choking), he kept watching her.
He wanted to say 'anything you want' and he wanted to say 'I should go' and he wanted to say several other things. For now, somehow, he was remaining silent.
