Sam Eagle Presents: The Weird States of America, Thursday 11/16
“Welcome back students! I hope you are prepared this week to learn about a very weird state indeed. The state of New York!”
“Now,” Sam said, glancing around as if he were worried he might be overheard, “New York is not all bad. It is, in fact, the birthplace of Captain Steve Rogers! You may know him as Captain America! He resides on this very island!” He was the best part of this weird island if you asked Sam.
“That may be the best thing about New York. This state is home to a city also called New York and despite that that city is not even the capital! That would be Albany! And New York City contains millions of weirdos! Of course, that is where Captain Rogers is from but everyone else there is deeply and unforgivably weird! Have you ever seen the hipsters of Brooklyn?”
Sam gave a theatrical shudder.
“Now, New York is home to the famous and glorious Niagara Falls but they share them with Canada and even gave Canada the better view! An outrage! Why, some parts of New York might as well be Canada! There is a region that even calls itself The North Country!”
Sam's shudders had given way to sad shakes of his head.
“And New York calls itself the Empire State! We had an entire war to remove ourselves from an empire! Outrageous!”
“Now, students, what do you have to add to this?”
