Language classes Thursday

Good morning.

Your first vocabulary quizzes are today.

I'll be passing around the sign-up sheet for in-class presentations today as well. If you still don't know a subject, see me after class or during lab.

Also, remember we'll be watching Wings of Desire tomorrow during lab and my regular office hours, starting at 11:30. Lanugages of Europe students, I particuarly expect you to attend. If there is a conflict with another class, please see me and we'll make arrangements.

Please pass up your assignment from last time.

What was the biggest differences you noticed between your normal form and your cat form?

For your first quiz: translate the four vocabulary words on the board to English, then translate the second four to French and Spanish.

The last two words: Conjugate both verbs in the present tense.

You have fifteen minutes.

Sorry I missed Tuesday's class sir I wasn't feeling well. What was the assignment? Could I get an extension?

Your first quiz is to write the phonetic alphabet symbol for each sound. You have fifteen minutes.

The assignment was to write approximately 100 words on the differences in your senses between your normal and feline forms.

Get it to me by the beginning of Tuesday's class and I'll accept it.

Lisa completes her quiz and hands it into Professor Dream. "Thank you, sir."

*Elizabeth translates all the words into English with ease, takes a bit more time on the second four, and makes a few mistakes conjugating, but hands everything in before the 15 minute mark is up*

Archie stares at the board and chews on the end of his fountain pen. After about five minutes the faint scratching sound of pen nib on paper can be heard from his desk. At the time limit (quite a few crossed-out words later), he gets up and turns in the quiz. His French and Spanish spellings seem to be all mixed up, and there are a few holes in the paper from the fountain pen's nib.

Krycek's test is nearly all right when he turns it in, only a few of the French and Spanish words mispelled or wrong. The conjugated verbs both are correct, but the paper seems worn from an eraser being applied several times.

Evelyn writes down all of the words and has them translated within ten minutes. She conjugates the last two verbs and hands in her quiz.

This sheet now being passed around is for signing up for your in-class presentations. We'll begin those a week from Tuesday, the 27th of September. Don't be afraid of being first. If you're having trouble choosing a subject come see me during lab or office hours and I'll present some options.

I'm very pleased that verb conjugation is so clear to your all. I want you all to get a partner or two and attempt some convesations using the vocabulary we've learned so far. You have next half hour.

Hello, Professor.

I talked to your sister, like you suggested. It actually helped me think about it more clearly.

*takes a deep breath*

I'd like your help with the nightmares, sir. But-- I think I'll keep the memories. They're mine. So.

He ponders for a few moments.

Tonight, when you fall asleep, give me permission to enter your dreams and I'll bring you something from my realm to help.

He doesn't need permission, really, as a dreamer is in his country rather than the other way around, but it's only polite.

Parker swallows, then nods.

"Okay, sir. I'll do that. And... thank you."

She hurries away without looking back.

Rogue struggles with the translations, but passes the conjugation with flying colors. Annoyed with herself, she sits quietly.

After the quiz, when they're required to converse, Parker is jittery and bored, so she sizes up the room, and notices the ~~Lee-a-like~~ kid chewing through a fountain pen.

"Bon jour. J'mapelle Parker. Que es su nombre?"

All I can remember is fragments of a nightmare and you helping me through it and I wanted to thank you for that. I still don't know why it happened, however, and was hoping that you might be able to further help me.

I forgot something when I brought you all breakfast. The effect food of the Dreaming has on mortal creatures.

I will have to find an alternative.

As for his helping, he merely waves a hand.

It was my doing. Thus I had to stop it.

Rory has no trouble with the quiz at all. Language has always been a strong point of hers, and she passes beautifully.

*Hamlet easily translates all the words into English and French, and conjugates the verbs fine, but pauses a bit to remember the Spanish. He doodles a small picture of a hawk with a handsaw in the margins while remembering the Spanish lesson from the last class. He hands in the test and then looks balefully at the other students*

Biggest difference? I couldn't see any auras! I figure that's either 'cause cats' colour vision isn't so good, or maybe they just aren't concerned too much with what other people are feeling!
