This Wednesday, the park was not tricked out in a pizza theme. Raiden wasn't at all disappointed, really, he swore. Norse stuff was cool, too!...Just not as cool as pizza. But there was a rainbow decoration to represent the Bifrost at least. Rainbows were pretty cool.

"Well, we're filling in again," Jane said, looking much more confident this time around. Maybe because she was more familiar with this stuff. Or maybe it was just practice making perfect.

"Always happy to help!" Raiden agreed. "Jane picked our theme this week. It was only fair." And strangely, she had not picked astrophysics!

Somehow she didn't think anyone here wanted to listen to her enthusiastically lecture about the nature of wormholes for an hour. But the free shirts might have pulled them in... Next time. There was always next time.

"So, we're trying out VIking... adjacent games for you all. We'll call out your teams and you can get a shirt and some viking horns that are more cute than accurate."

Raiden was already wearing his. Over his baseball cap. "And most importantly, remember to have fun!"

They're cultural! Sort of.

One lucky contestant must make a make a paper boat and then guide it around the pond with a stick.

The boat will spontaneously burst into flames upon making contact with the water, so you'd better hurry to complete the circuit. If your boat burns up completely before you're done, you'll have to make a new one.

In honor of Freyja, race in a cat-drawn chariot!

...okay, Jane and Raiden couldn't get chariots on short notice, so they had a couple of wagons, and the cats wouldn't cooperate (they were asleep in the wagons), so one member of each team would have to sub in. But it was the spirit of the thing, right?

When Jane throws her fancy self-retrieving hammer, contestants will race from one end of the Bifrost slip'n'slide to the other and tag their partner, who will race back. Hurry to beat each other and Mjolnir!

They look quite fetching in their helmets, or at least Raiden thinks so.

Stark picked up his shirt, sighed, and changed into it.

The dragons were much nicer than the vikings!

"Okay, now this is cute," said Summer, because this Summer had, thankfully, never had a psychic orgy with a bunch of dragons before, and therefor did not have any very weird feelings related to those creatures...

...yet.

She was shaking out her ponytail a little so that the hat could stay better on her head, and also definitely tying up the end of shirt to make it a cute crop top because while the dragons on the shirt were adorable, the fit of it was not so much.

"That is cute," Stark agreed, appreciatively.

"Much cuter than mine." Sorry, vikings!

Please ignore the startled yelp from Stark when his first attempt burst into flame. Just pretend that didn't happen.

His next attempt also burst into flame but this time it was expected and that would make all the difference. Unless it took more than two tries. That was possible.

"Yours is a different kind of cute," said Summer, generously. "The more neutral, cooler colors are very complimentary?"

But, yeah, no, it was definitely going to be hard to beat the levels of cute she suspected she was pulling off right now, not gonna lie.

Oh, like Graham wasn't immediately swapping the viking hat he'd swapped his adventurer's cap with for those cat ears now, too.

"Meow meow meow meow, meow!" he added, and then, helpfully, in English, "That means 'and I've been working on my Cat, too!'"

Now he could finally put it to good use on someone other than Saffron, who, of course, just ignore all his attempts to chat with her.

Stark looked down then back over at Summer before shaking his head slowly.

"Yours is much cuter. But you can try this one later, if you like."

Lana eyed the shirt she'd been given. "This is strangely not terrible, though more colorful than I'd choose."

"If you say so; I'm afraid I don't speak it at all," Lana said. "I can help take the weight off, though, so...let's go?"

Jon could appreciate the rainbows! He did not appreciate his shirt, and the horns kept falling off until he gratefully took them off, but he could deal with that.

Slipping and sliding was another thing, though. "Oh, for..." If he were lucky, his elbows wouldn't poke a hole in the damn thing. He was a bit too scarred to be adequately slippery.

Which was a sentence he couldn't believe he'd had to think.

"Okay," said Summer, readily and easily, because, well, wasn't it just sort of a given at this point that she would? "And you can try on mine."

Stark would never take such a thing for granted though.

"I like that idea," he said, grinning. "It's a very good idea for later. Should I keep it on for the bar later then?"

Even if it wasn't cute now. Maybe it would grow on him?

"Yes, please," said Summer, with a smile. "Except it it gets gross from whatever we do today, but I feel Jane and Raiden have been keeping it pretty clean and wholesome. But now you've got me wondering if I'll have enough time to whip up a cactus shot..."

"With spikes?" Stark asked curiously. "Or just cactus-flavored? Does cactus have a flavor? I don't think I've eaten cactus. Have you?"

"I'm pretty sure I've used it as an ingredient before," Summer said, her head tilting thoughtfully, and that didn't necessarily mean that she'd had it before, even if she'd used it. "It's not that uncommon in the southwest and Mexico, but I probably couldn't tell you a whole about it, but it would make a lot of sense paired with a nice tequila base, I feel."

"Are you still planning on doing terrible things to tacos?" Stark asked. "Do I need to look out for spikes?"

"Who do I look like, Amaya Blackstone?" asked Summer. But this was twice now that he'd mentioned spikes...maybe she should do something with spikes. "And if I was planning to do something terrible with tacos, Stark, why would I tell you and ruin the surprise?"

"You look nothing like Amaya," Stark said.

Not that looking like Amaya was a bad thing!

"And maybe... maybe you wanted to take pity on me so I could prepare myself?"

"I don't know," Summer said, taking a moment to sort of clench her fists to flex her arms at her side and look down at the progress her muscles have been making, "all this weight lifting, I might be catching up to her a little in the arms department, at least."

Definitely wasn't anywhere near as impressive in the chest department, but she wasn't going to say that part outloud to Stark.

Not here in the middle of the park, anyway.

"And you know," she added, looking back over at him, "I'm not a big fan of taking pity on anyone."

"You have very nice arms," Stark assured her. "I was appreciating them yesterday."

He paused. "And I always appreciate the lack of pity."
