20th Century Food Crimes, Friday 5/12, First Period
Before class really got started, Summer was just going to take a moment and sigh happily as she looked around the community center kitchen classroom, fondly remembering all the twenty-first century food crimes that had been committed in this space over the past few years, and then turned her attention to her students, whether they were here because they knew what they were in for and were clearly just gluttons for punishment, or whether they were here because they had no idea, like lambs to the slaughter.
"Hello, everyone," she began, "and welcome to 20th Century Food Crimes, a class where me and my coteacher Stark here--" She paused, gesturing, for acknowledgement of said coteacher, "will lead you weekly through some truly what-the-fuck recipes that actually existed in this dimension somewhere and that, presumably, people actually ate. Or perhaps they made these things merely because they could, without stopping to think if they should."
Not that she'd know anything about that!
“They definitely should not,” Stark interjected. “Some of these should never have been made to begin with and they certainly should not be being made again yet here we are.” He was acting as if he had not enthusiastically agreed to this class.
"We're going to start our journey into the dark, seedy world of the culinary offenses of the last century with two absolute classics of bewilderment and awfulness that take a perfectly fine fruit and do terrible things to them: the liver sausage pineapple and ham and bananas hollandaise.”
“I’m sorry,” Stark said.
"I'm not," Summer said. "Let's get started!"
