Speech Comm

201--2nd period

Ok, this is it. These speeches are your finals. 10 to 15 minutes a piece, and I'm sure we won't get through everyone today. Belthazor, Barbossa, and Isabel...go.

301--3rd period

So, I know what I get. A spa day. But how in the world do you justify your learning and knowledge gained? Make it good and you have no final. Otherwise Thursday will be filled with weeping and lamentations.

Bel shimmers in (not just to impress CJ, really). He gives his speech on how coming to Fandom High has changed his views on right and wrong. He's cut down significantly on the ums and uhs in the speech since the trial run.

"Show-off," Isabel muttered with a shake of her head.

Bel winked at Isabel.

Isabel gave a speech about how she's learned what it really means when you admit the truth about yourself. She continued and explains how facing and accepting the truth, opened up a whole new world of possibilities.

Isabel stuck her tongue out at him. Yes, she's feeling mature today.

Alanna tried not to have a panic attack when her name was not called.

"I have learned that there are all kinds of forms of communication and that to rely on only one form limits you from ever truly communicating. That meaning what you say and saying what you mean might not always reach your target audience and that staying clear and focused allows you to get your point across better. That you should always make sure that the person you are giving the message to understand it the way you meant to send it and not just take for granted they received it in the right way." Maia smiled at C.J. waiting on the verdict.

She had also learned to trust people a little more thank to C.J. as well but that wasn't something she wanted to share with the class as well.

Barbossa gave his speech about the things he'd learned about people in Fandom. It was funny, it was scathing, and it was exactly on time.

He was obviously having entirely too much fun delivering it, too.

"I learned a lot in your class," Boone said seriously, leaving a latte on CJ's desk. There's a brief note, really just a quote, scribbled down on a sheet of looseleaf: "You can tell whether a teacher is clever by her answers. You can tell whether she is wise by her questions."

"I mostly learned that people flourish in an atmosphere where differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible -- " he offered CJ a smile. "I learned that you should first learn the meaning of what you're going to say, and then speak, and that it's a great ability to see things from another point of view. I learned that asking the right questions is just as hard as giving the right answers."

He paused, then grinned. "Oh, and I learned that good communication is as stimulating as good coffee."

That in no way calmed Alanna down.
