"My friends wanted to go to college. Well, except Chase" she said with a grin. "And I really needed to go back to school anyway since we ran away when I was in sixth grade.

"So, they, the people in charge," she waved a hand about vaguely, "agreed to let me pick where I wanted to go if we would quit hiding from them. I picked here because they said it didn't really matter that I hadn't been to school in a while."

She grinned again. "They really didn't say why at the time, but with all of the people here from different times and stuff, I can see how a sixth grade drop-out isn't that much of a big deal."
