Practical Wilderness Survival- Second Period- Monday

Dwight looked up from his notes and glanced at the clock on the wall seeing it was time to get things started.

"Alright everyone, welcome to the first class of Wilderness Survival," he said as he clapped his hands together. "This is a class focused on exactly what it sounds like- learning to survive out in the wild. If you were to get lost, kidnapped, or randomly teleported away, all possibilities here on the island, I might add, how long would you be able to last? Could you find food and shelter? Could you find clean water to drink? Could you signal for help and survive until a rescue party arrives? These are the kinds of things we will learn about in this class."

Dwight paused and took a look around the room at who all was there.

"We are just going to start off small and simple for the first class. I'd like each of you to tell us who you are, where you are from, and if you have any experience with wilderness survival or something similar. "

In Survival Mode!

"I'll get us started with the introductions. I am Dwight Hendrickson. I have been here on the island for almost two years, and this is my second time teaching a class here at the school. I come from a place called Haven up in Maine, and survival skills and disaster preparation are very much critical things to know back home. Alright, who would like to go next?"

It is an easy class to start with but he is here if you have any questions or concerns.... Speak now because it will only get more challenging from here on out!

Energy? What is this energy thing you speak of?

Liberty Hazlett

Libby lifted her hand to volunteer her turn, looking clearly ready for anything the class might throw at her, wearing jeans and with her long hair tied back in a ponytail.

"I'm Liberty," she offered, "Liberty Hazlett, though most everyone just calls me Libby, and I'm from Tennessee. My family lives a little put of the way, so I know a bit about scavenging and hunting and making do with what the good Lord gives you right out in nature. But it never hurts to be better, and I like to think I could learn to really hold my own if I had to be out there in the woods, fending for myself."

Which she figured was a better way to say it than just that she might like to be better at essentially cosplaying like it was pioneer times or that she was some kind of wildwoman of the woods, which, really, was the actual reason why she'd signed up for this class...

"Good to have you in the class, Libby," Dwight said with a smile. "I'm sure we will have several topics in class that fit along nicely with those skills you already have. I look forward to seeing what you can do in the class."

Alara Kitan

Guillermo de la Cruz

“Hey I’m Guillermo de La Cruz, I’m from the Bronx in New York and I don’t have any kind of wilderness survival training,” he admitted and then paused, “does LARPING count as training?” he couldn’t help but wonder.

“I’m Alara Kitan,” Alara said when it was her turn, “I’m from a planet called Xelaya, which has higher gravity so my strength is greater in an atmosphere like Earth’s, I don’t have any wilderness survival training but I’d like to join the military so I think it’d be a useful skill to have,” she said.

"Welcome to the class, Guillermo," Dwight said with a smile and a slight nod. "LARPING definitely counts for activity and endurance training for sure," he said with a grin. "I'm sure we can add to that experience in class."

"Nice to have you in the class, Alara," Dwight said. "That strength will certainly come in handy, I am sure. And as far as the military bit, I served for a while with one of our military branches here on Earth, so wilderness survival is definitely something I can recommend!"
