Hyrule History and Legends!; Friday, Second Period [09/02].

"Good morning, adventurers and knowledge-seekers!" Sidon greeted the class with his usual excitement and aplomb, grinning big as everyone got settled into their classroom (one of the ones with a rather nicely high ceiling). "And welcome to Hyrule History and Legends!, a class where I, Sidon," he pumped his fist across his chest and hit them with a brilliant smile, so brilliant the light caught perfectly off his fangs, because he'd had that down for centuries now!, "the Zora Prince, will take you on several fantastic journeys through the exciting legends and history of my world, Hyrule! For those of you who don't know, Hyrule is a far-distant land, very different from this one, full of all sorts of magic and wonder, but also a great deal of danger, especially in the form of the Great Calamity, a monstrous entity that rose up from the past nearly one hundred years ago, that plagues us to this day. It is a world currently dangling in the balance between destruction and survival, which is perhaps why I am so keen on teaching about it. Hopefully, Hyrule will be around for many, many more millennia to come, but, if not, then, at least it may not be so easily forgotten."

His smile now was soft and apologetic.

"Hardly the most encouraging note to start on, but it does place things in a very true, very realistic context, and I hope highlights the importance of knowledge and storytelling, especially of worlds not our own. And, as such, since you will be spending the rest of the semester hearing me tell you about the world that is my own, today, I should actually very much like to hear about the worlds that are your own." He chuckled faintly. "I'm sure some of you are sick of introductions at this point, although I am incredibly fond of them myself, so please, indulge me at least this one time by taking some time to tell me and everyone else your name and where you're from, and anything else about your world that you might wish to share. If you could be so kind, I would also be absolutely delighted to know if there's any particular reason you decided to take this class, or anything you'd like to know more about, so I can be certain it gets covered in the weeks going forward. Sometimes, there feels like so much to talk about, that I find it rather difficult to even choose! So if I can guide my lessons based on what you'd like to know about, that works best for all of us in the long run!

"And," Sidon added with a wink, gesturing toward the desk behind him, which had been, notably, piled up with a variety of different fruits and a few vegetables, "to ensure that the class is not entirely introductions, I have also brought with me from Hyrule a few examples of its natural bounty in the form of some of our most fortifying fruits and vegetables! Please come and try them when we're all finished, and, if you like, we can discuss some of their properties as well. I have included little placards to tell you more about the regions they can be found and what benefits they provide, but I will be more than happy to discuss them further!"

He was never against discussing almost anything really.

"But first! Introductions! Who shall have the honor of going first?"

Libby was a little glad to see that the classroom, at least, didn't seem to be effected by the strange unburning fire that seemed to have popped up around most places, and, honestly, considering who was in the class and the fact that Mr. Sidon was always just a delight anyway, she had to grin happily to be there.

"I'm Libby," she offered, with a wave of her hand, "but you all knew that already. I'm from right here on Earth, a place called Tennessee, and I really hadn't seen much of the world growing up, we stayed pretty close to home."

Understatement of the Year award goes to...

"So I love learning all about new places, especially ones I've never even dream of actually existing! And I know I've taken a lot of your courses before, Mr. Sidon, but I'm so excited to learn more, even if it's stuff I've already learned, because Hyrule sounds like a really magical and interesting place, like something out of a book. I'm really thrilled to get to know even more about it."

Maybe it was just because, in other classes, there had been so many fantastical things about Hyrule, but when Libby went up to the desk to see what sorts of funny fruits and vegetables they might have, she was...a little disappointed. Most of these just looked like regular old fruits and vegetables you'd find just about anywhere! Except for the Rushrooms and she'd never seen anything (or smelled anything!) like that Durian and the Voltfruit and...okay, maybe some of them were a little different, but she was pretty sure those were just regular bananas and watermelons and carrots.

Which she loved, don't get her wrong, and she was definitely trying them to see if they tasted different (they didn't), but it was weird thinking that a magical land like Hyrule would still just have regular old bananas and watermelon and carrots.

"I'm Josephine Jones, Jo," Jo said when it was her turn, "I'm from South West England," she paused, "and it's 1953 for me back home, I like learning about new places and I would like to learn more about Hyrule,"

“It is very different from today,” Jo nodded, “we don’t have things like the internet or cell phones at home,” she explained, “I live in the countryside outside Cornwall but it isn't far to drive up to the city," she added.

Even though technically that was because her father liked to drive really fast, so it probably took most people longer to get to the city.

Jo did have to think about that one, since geography or history was not her strong suite even if it was about her home, “I don’t think so,” she said, tilting her head, “I mean there is a lot of corn, but I don’t think there’s a specific wall of corn,”

"I'm Vi, and I like hearing about different places I guess," Vi said while trying to figure out what she could say about back home without being too revealing. "The city I come from is on an isthmus."

Look, she was pretty sure that was the thing that would keep Sidon's attention.

“I do not know why Cornwall has its name," Jo admitted, "but I could definitely look into it,” she said brightly, “I could even see if the library has anything as well,” she considered.

No, Vi had probably not. "Piltover," she said. "No one here seems to heard of it."

Which wasn't entirely a bad thing, even if it made getting back home harder.
