Cooperating with People you Hate, Friday 4th period
Class was back in the Danger Shop, and Lana looked faintly concerned, which meant you probably should be, too.
"I'm not convinced this exercise will work with non-lethal incentives, but we're going to try it, and I encourage you all to take it as seriously as if it were life or death." The lack of killing students was definitely nice when you were a student, but it did make planning lessons more difficult.
"Today's task is to get to the top of that plascrete wall." She pointed at the tall edifice behind her. "Whichever team makes it to the top first - without use of the Force or other powers - will get ice cream. Or rather, gift cards to the ice cream shop, because I didn't want it melting first. However, before you get there, you each must complete a task."
A fair distance in front of the wall were two plinths with buttons on them. "One person from each team will step up to one of these, and you'll each press a button. If you both press green, you'll both continue on as you were. If you press red and your opponent presses green, you will get a grappling hook and your opponent will get doused in lubricant. However if you both press red, you both get doused in lubricant. So you must decide - how badly do you want to try to win, and how much can you trust somebody on the other team?"
She really wished she had popcorn for this.

Because as far as she was concerned, the choice here was simple: either the other person would hit green and hitting red would screw them over, or the other person would hit red, meaning that if she hit green, she’d be the one getting screwed over.
She slammed the red button. “No one screws me without getting screwed,” she muttered.

"I am willing to swear by the honor of Atreides to make this mutually beneficial to both of us," she offered, watching her opponent carefully.
Lana said no powers. Being a Truthsayer, and knowing if someone was lying when they spoke, was a skill that theoretically anyone could learn.

Amazing. Ghani was legitimately delighted.
"Green, we go our separate ways, and know that we are rational humans who are not slaves to our baser impulses," she proposed cheerfully. "...or alternately, we both go down together, and make the course a much more entertaining challenge to see what our training has taught us."
She was absolutely proposing mutual, consensual destruction, just to see which of them was faster without relying on The Force or The Way. Sorry, Lana.

Well, Faith said 'fucker,' but there were children present, and Ghanima was still a teacher. Which was why modeling consent via negotiations was important.
"May the best win," she said sweetly, and brought her hand down on the red button.

Anakin leaped--non Force-assisted but still pretty sprightly--towards the climbing edifice.
