Stark had not slept since Sunday night. Stark was exhausted. His eye was red. His shoulders were slumped. He hadn’t shaved in days. Sleeping poorly was nothing new but a complete lack of sleep like this for days was not something he’d had to deal with before. Stark was still standing in front of the cupcake students in the home ec classroom. Perhaps standing was too strong of a word. Stark was upright but leaning heavily against the wall and looking blearily at the assembled students.

“I haven’t slept,” he said, sounding just as exhausted as he knew he looked. “No sleep all week. Not at all. I…I can’t. I know I’m not the only one but that doesn’t make it better. I hope some of you have slept. Maybe all of you. Have you? No. It doesn’t matter. I…we’re not baking today. Not a good idea. Next week. If we’re still functioning then. Am I even really functioning now?” Yes, Stark was talking mostly to himself there.

He shook his head then as if trying to clear his thoughts. “I brought coffee. I brought lots of coffee. If you want that. And coffee cupcakes. If you want them. And…chocolate covered espresso beans. It might help. A little. It might not. I don’t know. At least it all tastes good. Or I think it does. I don’t know what you all think.” If anyone didn’t think coffee or cupcakes tasted good, hopefully they wouldn’t tell Stark that today. He might not be able to take it in his current sleep-deprived state.

I'd say my inability to sleep through the night was method RP but I honestly can't even remember the last time I woke up not still feeling exhausted.

Summer Smith

Josephine Jones

"I'm Jo.." Jo started to say and let out a yawn without even trying to hide it, she was horrified that she had just yawned like that, "I'm - sorry that ... that was rude," she fought back another yawn the way that she was supposed to hide them, "I'm Josephine Jones, I go by Jo and I'm from South West England 1953 and I'm going to be a sophomore this year,"

Vi wasn't actually all that tired, but she wasn't going to turn down free food either. "'m Vi," she said around a mouthful of cake.

Summer wasn't sure she could actually get more tired, but listening to Stark ramble through all that made her suddenly realize that she was very wrong.

"Oof," she just said, eloquently, when it came around to her and she paused mainlining espresso beans for a hot second that felt like a lifetime, really. "This is fucking rough..."

And then she blinked and seemed to remember what they were doing. "Oh, right. Hi. I'm Summer. Cupcakes good. Stark friend. Class awesome...." She managed to wave a hand in the air a little. "Blah blah---" Aaaaaand there was they yawn, "blah.

"This is so much better that what we had in my class," she then muttered, mostly to herself because she assumed everyone moved on, and completely ignoring the fact that, yes, Summer, that was the whole point of your class was that it was the worst.

"Aren't my cupcakes always better than your..." Stark frowned, trying to come up with the correct words for the horrors that Summer unleashed upon the world during her food classes. "Your...I don't know. The things you make."

"If they aren't," Summer pointed out, both wearily and warily, "then we're in some serious trouble, my dude."

Steph Gingrich

Steph was only about as tired as you might expect from someone who'd been up until 3 AM running a game session and then working on Pride stuff (and had forgotten dinner, whoops), but she was looking a little concerned at everyone else who seemed to have serious sleep deprivation issues.

"Hey, I'm Steph Gingrich," she said, "and I'm starting to think I need to make a coffee run for everybody here. I mean, I know we already have some but I don't think it's gonna be enough."

I woke up at 3 AM with a sudden nasty charley horse and never could quite go back to sleep afterward (AGAIN), so I feel you.

Terra Harvey

"Terra Harvey," she introduced herself. "I've, uh. I've slept fine?" Terra, that wasn't actually meant to be part of the introductions.

"Not rude," Stark assured her.

He wouldn't mind yawns normally but he really couldn't be bothered to care at this point. He just wanted sleep.

I do have actual chocolate covered espresso beans to eat. They help a little. I'll share.

Lucky for Vi there was always food in Stark's classes.

"Hello, Vi."

He might have managed more of a greeting but, you know, utter exhaustion. He did sort of lift one hand in something that might resemble a wave.

"I don't know if there's enough coffee on the island."

There might not have been enough coffee even if all of the storefronts had remained coffee shops when the fans invaded.

Side-eye from one eye could be surprisingly effective. Even if that eye was red from lack of rest.

"I'm glad someone has," Stark said with a sigh. He almost sounded like he meant it, too.
