Flight and Flying- Tuesday- 2nd period

Class was going to be held in the flight shed with the simulators, and Jaina actually looked pretty happy to be back in here.

"Welcome to Flight and Flying," she greeted the class. "I'm Jaina Solo Fel, Fandom alumni and professional pilot." Former. Whatever. "In this class, you're going to get to fly different things from different places. Some of it will be from Earth, you'll get some spaceships, you'll get some other stuff. But today, we're starting with a spaceship because it's my favorite.

"Today we're going to learn about X-wings. You'll have weapons and you'll have shields, so I'm going to run you guys through the basics and then I'm going to let you dogfight. Also, I don't know most of you so tell me who you are and if there's anything you definitely want me to cover,"

Who are you and do you want to do anything specific?

Jaina ran everyone through the basics of how to use the simulator and how an X-wing worked, and then they would get to try it out when TIE fighters came out of nowhere to shoot at you.

So fight them off, and help each other out maybe!

She thinks she won't have portal issues back home after class. LOL

Today is being stupid.

Graham Cracker

With how wide Graham's eyes had been throughout literally every class experience he'd had so far since yesterday, it was a surprise they hadn't just popped right out of their sockets.

"Zouuuuuunds!" he gasped out, almost forgetting that he was supposed to be introducing himself. "I didn't know we'd be flying actual things! I thought it would be, like....with wings, or magic potions or something!"

And here Graham thought that one day getting to see the famed Floating Island of Daventry would be exciting, now there was spaceships?!?

He didn't even know what spaceships were, but he did know they sounded awesome!

"We could do wings," Jaina mused.

"I would love to do wings!" Graham said, with an eager encouragement and a bobbing head. "My roommate," you know, the one who was in this class, probably ~~maybe~~ literally right there, but okay, "has wings! I never have, but, boy, I bet that'd really be something!"

Gray

"This. Is. AMAZING!" said Graham, who had been practically buzzing with excitement to get into the cockpit pretty much since word one on Jaina's instructions...and he hadn't even gotten started yet.

So once he did finally buckle in and focus on the actual flying of it all, you'll have to forgive the frequent whoops and hollers that burst out of him when he managed to do even the most rudimentary things, much less when he decided to be bold and try a flip (he was ambitious, yes, but he was also a very quick study), and then the TIE fighters came in and he let out a little "Oh no!" and set to focus on how to fight them back.

Complete with "pew pew!" sounds whenever he shot his weapon.

How he knew how to pew pew when weapons that pew pew'd didn't really exist in his world was anyone's guess. Maybe some things were just multiversinal.

"I'm Gray," Gray said. "I was kind of hoping to learn how to fly a plane? Not in reality or anything. That would be bad. But my brother can fly a plane. He flies us places sometimes, and I always thought it would be so cool to learn, but I'm not allowed because of my sleepy spells." Just because his brothers would survive a plane crash didn't mean they wanted to be in one.

"Are you thinking more jet, or a smaller plane?" Jaina checked,

"Not one of the big passenger jets," Gray clarified. "They seem kind of boring to be honest."

Oh, okay, it was kind of like a video game. Gray was bad at video games, but this seemed fun!

It was, however, also an enclosed space with a chair, so gradually his movements started getting more sluggish and erratic as he struggled to stay awake.

Lana Beniko

"Lana Beniko," Lana introduced herself. "Originally from Dromund Kaas," which explained the accent, "currently from Odessen. Frankly, I'd like to learn to better pilot spacecraft, because whenever I let the Alliance Commander fly himself, our transportation budget takes a rather large hit," she added dryly.

So many crashes. So many.

Lana was a halfway decent pilot, but dogfighting wasn't really her thing. She dodged a shot, then shot back, and blinked when the TIE exploded right away.

"What's the point in fighting ships without shields?" she wondered aloud. "It's hardly realistic." All ships had shields, right?

Shane Gooseman

“I’m Shane Gooseman, Goose,” Goose said when it was his turn, “I fly a lot of spaceships back home,” he paused and added a bit sheepishly, “and crash a lot of the ships too so I’m pretty sure that’s why my CO signed me up for the class to limit the amount of crashes and expenses,” it was definitely wishful thinking on Walsh’s part.

Oh, were they talking about him? "That's true," Gray said. "I do have wings." They were nowhere in evidence right now, but he had them. "I hope that's not cheating."

"Not cheating," Jaina decided. "But I might talk to you before we get to wings in class."

Jaina recognized that name. It'd been years, but she of course would remember the name of the Sith hanging around town. She hadn't had anything to worry about then, though, so she could be chill now.

"I'll do my best, also possibly because of public safety," Jaina decided.

"Then I'm going to be really glad we're using simulators," Jaina said honestly.

Lana was always glad when she wasn't in danger of being skewered.

"The galaxy thanks you," she said, smirking a little.

"Sure thing!" Gray agreed. "Whatever I can do to help or whatever."

Alara Kitan

“I’m Alara Kitan,” Alara said when it was her turn, “I’ve never flown anything before but I’m from the 25th Century so I’m more used to spacecraft but I’m interested in learning about flying in general,”
