The Art of Battle Tactics; Monday, First Period [10/18].

Returning back to class after a nice little break was something that Shunsui was sure he had just as much trouble with as his students, though he supposed, by now, none of them would be surprised by that fact, and none of them should be expecting anything too extranious for their lesson this week because of it.

Granted, by now, none of them should be expecting anything too extranious for their lessons with him ever. But as it was, they would find the classroom set up in its circle of cushions with its offering of warm beverages at the center as usual, and the expectedly sleepy-looking instructor ready to lead them into another discussion.

"Ohayō gozaimasu, ducklings ♥," he greeted them, once everyone seemed settled in and comfortable with their beverages should they have them. "You know, one similiar thread that ran through last week's visit to the fair city of Boston, other than the warm and beautiful delights of autumn on the Eastern coast, was history, and, very specifically, a history of a war that shaped the nation in which we call our temporary home while on this island significantly. Now, we could very well go from that trip to looking at the various battles of the American Revolution, breaking down the finer details of the tactics employed, especially in consideration to the fact that the victors of that war were considered underdogs compared to their more sophisticated counterparts, but I have to admit....I simply cannot stop thinking about the tea ♥."

He lifted his own cup with a small wink, took a drink, and then settled it down.

"Specifically, the Colonists and their protest with simply tossing it into the sea. It made a statement that announced to the British that they were not messing around and the protest was a peaceful one: no one was injured, and, save for the tea and a padlock, there was hardly any property damage as well. Compare that to, say, the Boston Massacre of a few years earlier, when a few flung snowballs and oyster shells lead to a battle and British soldiers opening fire and a whole general bloody mess. And that leads us to our discussion for today:

"Acts of protest as a battle tactic ♥. Do they work? Are they effective? What sorts of benefits can they bring, or perhaps why are they wastes of time? Are there any other examples you can think of, from your history or the history of this world? Have you even participated in some yourself? What other form can they take? I know in my Art of Pacifism classes, one of my favorite lessons is about a Greek play that involves the women of a nation banding together to agree to withhold sex from their men unless they agree to stop fighting, which I think is quite possibly one of the best strategies for peaceful protest I have ever heard, my swords would be sheathed immediately ♥."

Let's just forget that he would put down his arms for far, far less, as well.

"But let's hear your thoughts on the matter, ducklings ♥. That is, after all, why we're here."

And to maybe attempt to learn things, but...pfffft.

Kiem tried to think of something, specifically something that would stop the emperor from going to war. It had the disadvantage of his grandmother not really planning to, and the best thing was usually trying not to contradict her.

He also tried to imagine her reaction to throwing tea into the ocean and withholding sex.

"I'm not sure either of those examples would work on Iskat."

“I think peaceful protests would still be considered to much like fighting back home,” Alara considered, “there might be less physical fighting involved but they would still prefer engaging in traditional debate and diplomacy,”
