"Fittingly enough," Shunsui said, smiling at his students once they'd all settled into the circle and helped themselves to their beverages if so desired, "I actually had quite a different topic in mind for today, but conversations had this weekend," his smile grew just a slight bit, "inspired me to move in a new direction, which is exactly the direction in which I have moved ♥: changing one's tactics willingly and cleverly based on new information that may present itself. There are many who believe in stubbornly staying a course once a strategy is planned, but you will find that most effective tacticians are far more flexible in their pursuits. As Confucius said, 'the grass must bend, when the wind grows across it,' and also 'the green reed which bends in the wind is stronger than the mighty oak which breaks.' And from Lao Tzu: 'An army that cannot yield will be defeated. A tree that cannot bend will crack in the wind. The hard and stiff will be broken; the soft and supple will prevail.' ♥.

"So, that shall be our topic today: flexibility. Adaptability. The ability...and importance...of being able to bend with the wind, to know when to yield, or...perhaps...to simply come up with a new plan ♥.

"And so I would like for us to have two discussions today. First, I'm sure it won't take much for us each to conjure up an image of a strong oak that refuses to bend in the wind, and the more perspectives one has, the more flexible they may be ♥. So what are your strategies when dealing with someone, a commander, a parent, a friend...who is determined to stay the course despite the fact that things have changedand a new tactic may be needed?

"And second: a bit of role-play. Put yourselves in the shoes of the person in charge. Your fellow classmates are your soldiers, ready at your command ♥. Imagine a scenario of your choice and decide on a plan of actions. And soldiers, I would like you to come up with new information about that scenerio to throw your commander's plan through a loop. Commander, what do you now do with this information? How will you change your plan? Will you change your plan? Why or why not? Let us see if we can challenge ourselves to see in just which ways we're willing...or unwilling....to bend ♥."

It is short and sweet and sure to not make anyone in the class feel slightly uncomfortable for whatever reason, surely...

"So first," Shunsui said to guide the conversation, "let's discuss plans, strategies, advice, antedotes in dealing with situations where a mighty oak refuses to bend. How would you go about convincing them the importance of flexibility? Do you have any specific examples of when something like this may have happened to you? How did you convince them to change their plans, or what would you have done differently if you failed in your influence? Don't be shy, now ♥. Your experience may offer a perspective that one of your fellow classmates may have never thought of, or vice versa ♥!"

"Now," Shunsui grinned at them lightly, "for something a little more engaging ♥. I'd like you all to take turns being a commander of sorts. Of an army? Or a sports team? Or some sort of school project? The details are entirely yours, but you're to present the situation and a strategy to tackle it ♥. Everyone else, I'd like you to think of some new information to give your commander that might cause them to want to reconsider their plan. Let's say you plan on leading an offensive against the ducks in park, for example, and you plan to simply isolate them to the pond so your efforts may be more focused to one area. But it turns out that the flamingos have formed a defensive barrier against the pond, meaning if you plan to isolate the ducks there, you'll have to go through the flamingos first. Do you then face the flamingos as well, or do you change your plan and attempt a new strategy with the ducks ♥? I think it will be quite interesting to see what we may come up with, neh ♥?"

He's there. He has tea. He thinks 'just call it off and sleep on it for now' is an effective change in strategy and one that can be applied to almost anything and repeated ad infinitum...

The lack of any more news on the release of the 1000 Year Blood War animation has me wondering if the whole thing was some kind of fever dream, because, hey, Bleach people, an official release date would be nice, you guys, there isn't actually a whole lot of 2021 left, and if it's pushed back to 2022, I'm gonna be real sad. ;_;

I'm thinking of tapping into the filler arcs to tide me over. THE FILLER ARCS. :O

Alara was trying to stay focused in today’s class but was finding it a bit difficult because she was still stuck on ‘my sister and teacher went on a date’ and so she was holding a drink because it meant she could focus on that and not feel as awkward.
