Exploring Earth Cuisine, Monday 5th period

"Good afternoon again." Hannibal smiled. "Today we will be visiting a restaurant I'm particularly fond of. You may have noticed I enjoy locally sourced food and a calming atmosphere." He waved them through the portal.

A wide-smiling being with too many eyes greeted them. "Welcome to Milliway's! The restaurant at the end of the universe!"

Hannibal blinked. "This is not it." He turned, but the portal was already closing behind the last of them. He sighed. "Well, at least the floor show is interesting. And perhaps we'll enjoy the dish of the day."

"Wonderful!" The maitre-d clasped their hands together. "Your table is right through here, gentlebeings! I'll send the dish over to you as soon as they've prepared themselves."

Spectacularly!

There are beings from every possible world and time, all excited for the end of the universe!

The dish of the day is an Ameglian Major Cow, who is wheeled out on a large platter and introduces himself before asking what cut of him you'd like to eat.

Or you can pay attention to the floor show, which features the universe ending for your delight.

He's here, and will absolutely enjoy the dish of the day.

Look, there are seven classes, and only six continents with restaurants on them, okay?

Yeah, Astrid was pretty sure she would be declining on the plat du jour that day, trying to be as polite as she could about it when telling someone that you weren't actually interested in eating a part of them, but thanks all the same.

In fact, between this and her Aquatic Arts class with the fishing, she found herself wondering if there were any good vegetarian options, or, considering the location, that even the plants would be fairly sentient and leave her being unable to look any of the flowers in their pistils on Wednesday.

While Ignis had never had the experience of holding a conversation with the meal he was just about to consume before (nor did he ever expect that to be an experience he would have), he found it to be only a little awkward, and, considering the quality of the ensuing dish based entirely on the Cow's suggestions, well worth it.

The Cow apparently knew himself quite well, and they were all better off for it.

And now to decided if this or the whole end of the world as entertainment part was the strangest bit of it all. Something about the latter settled inside of him much more uncomfortably than the former ever could.

Clare Devlin

"I beg your pardon," Clare said, "but I cannot eat talking cow!"

That was really rather upsetting.

Belle

"Food isn't meant to speak," Belle said in a low voice.

This was all very upsetting!

Belle was doing her best not to stare but there was so very much to look at here. Yes, the school and the island provided some interesting sights and individuals but not on nearly this scale!

"It's really putting me off meat entirely," Clare murmured back.

"That's certainly something to consider."

At least until someone offered sausage or bacon with pancakes in the near future.

Well, pork was different! Maybe!

"It's just so odd to ask," Clare hissed.

"Some days I think may be done being surprised by this school," Belle confessed quietly. "I'm always wrong."

"One week my teammate climbed through a window in the middle of the park!" Clare said. "I don't understand at all."

"I hugged Five," Belle confided. "Strange things happen all the time. And then even stranger ones come along!"
