Today, students would find that class was taking place at the shooting range. Did you think there wouldn't be at least one class set here? That was silly of you.

"It's important to be an accurate shot, in our line of work," Faye greeted the class. Did she have a rifle that didn't belong to her casually positioned behind her back? Maybe. Look, she just wanted to try it, okay? As a treat.

At least it wasn't actually stolen, okay?

"There's a mix of projectile weapons," Din said, helmet tilting toward Faye. "And blasters. Same rules apply for both. Your finger is not on the trigger until you are firing, you never point a weapon at someone unless you mean to use it on them... Got it?"

"Treat them all like they're loaded, even if they're not," Faye added cheerily. "That way, you're never surprised. And if you're a person who uses a melee weapon...like, fine, but you'll want something ranged, too." Because swords and knives and stuff were fun, sure, but it was a lot better in her opinion to shoot someone before they ever even realized you had a gun.

"Those are for up close and usually quieter," Din added thoughtfully. "If anyone needs to learn it, we can come up with a lesson plan."

Or you could see him demonstrate with a spear.

Faye was giving him the confused look one might expect when faced with the words lesson plan.

"Sure," she said generously. "We have targets set up for you -- we're not keeping score or anything, but you'll want to practice not only headshots, but also non-lethal injuries. There's an art to taking out a knee to prevent running, but ensuring you still turn in a breathing bounty."

Because sometimes dead bodies just weren't worth as much.
