Music 201 - April 7, 2006 - Period 7 - Class #24

As per Ted's email, Music 201 is held in the Danger Shop today.

The Shop is set up to look like a post-apocalyptic wasteland junkyard.

"Afternoon, dudes! Today we're learning about music made after the world has gone boom. Even members of a human resistance need music. Today's gonna be a hands-on lesson, so pick a place and go explore."

To the left as you enter, there is a cage full of zombies. There is a sign beside the cage that says 'Will groan for food' and a bucket of meat nearby.
"Feed the zombies and make them groan. Post-apocalyptic vocals, dudes!"

In the center of the junkyard there are several drum kits set up. The only catch is that the drum sticks are metal and the drums are actually broken killer robot parts. "Each part has a different sound. Bang away, dudes!"

Like that movie The ~~Matrix~~ Grid did, there's something set up to record rain drops on a piece of metal. That, in turn, is hooked up to turn the noise into the cool digital sound effect. Yes, there will be rain just over that area. You may want to put your jacket over your head once it starts. "Play around and make totally excellent noises, dudes!"

Explore. Feel free to have something go wrong, like a zombie getting loose or a robot waking up. No major injuries, but flailing and chaos is welcomed!

Talk to Ted, dudes.

You rang?

John? He signs in and he's still muttering vehemently, holding some kind of conversation with something that isn't there.

Callisto signed in.

For some reason, John tries zombie vocals. Maybe it's because his imaginary not friend reminds him of one.

He tosses the zombies a Twinkie.

Angela signed in, dude.

Angela shifted her weight from foot to foot as she waited for the teacher. Her hair was still a little damp from playing in the rain.

Angela's sweater has a hood, so she starts in this area (though the sweater isn't really much protection.) She manages to make a noise that is almost Moby-esque.

Cameron signs in.

"Hey dudette! What's up?"

Cameron goes for the drums. So it's slightly freaky to hit on a robot's body parts, but it actually has a decent sound and soon he gets carried away.

In sopite of herself, Angela had to smile at being called dudette.

"Two things. Um, first, did I miss anything by not being in class last week? I had a family thing and had to go home."

Chloe signs in.

Zero signed in.

Zero bangs on some robot parts. She's not actually a very good drummer, but she's very enthusiastic.

Sawyer signs in.

Sawyer glances about him and then he pegs one of the zombies in the head with a piece of meat. Ahh, amusing !

He actually enjoys this one. Drums are awesome; even if they're pieces of a killer robot.

"First one to sign in gets detention! You're it, dude!"

Ted rarely makes sense, but what can you do?

John facepalms.

Chloe can definitely handle banging things, and does so quite enthusiastically.

Pip signs in.

Pip tosses the zombies some meat.

There's something to be said for "undead rock and roll". After all, the band at the bar was composed entirely of zombies.

Pip grins maliciously as he starts to bang away at the robot parts, making sure to pay extra attention to the peper-pot likes ones that had blasted him before.

Lindsey signed in.

Lindsey bangs away at the busted robot parts. Woo!

Bridge signs in.

Bridge feeds the Zombies some Zombie chow, and manages to get them singing "Ever the Same".

After some work, Bridge manages to rig up an automatic percussion system to accompany the zombie vocals.

Yup, you've guessed it. The rain sound-effects bear a mysterious resemblance to the instrumental track from "Ever the Same".
