Weapons 101; Thursday, Third Period [05/14].
All the proper emails, texts, carrier pigeons, whatever, had been sent out to let everyone in the class know that this workshop was definitely going to be a Danger Shop workshop unless otherwise noted, because, as much as both of the instructors felt it was more fun with live steel and everything, it could also get a lot messier, and none of them wanted to deal with that kind of paperwork, plus Amaya liked keeping her 'no body parts lost yet!' credentials as a teacher.
Rosa, meanwhile, was not saying anything about her own current status on that front.
Anyway! When they made it to the Danger Shop, they'd find themselves on a nice grassy knoll outside of a forest, with probably some Ren Faire bullshit going on just beyond the hills, pennants flapping in a faint breeze that sectioned off their training areas, with targets and practice dummies set up, and the two instructors standing by some tables...covered in rocks.
They'll get to that.
Amaya got things going once everyone seemed there and it was getting close to time, anyway. "Welcome to Weapons 101, everyone," she said with a nod. "For those of you a bit new to the class, this will be a very basic overview of a variety of different weapons, how they're used, how they're made, and pretty much anything else about them we find interesting. Which, fair warning, is a lot. I'm your expert in making weapons, Amaya Blackstone, and this here is our expert in using them, Rosa Diaz."
It would seem like a good spot for Rosa to either say hello or wave or even nod, but they weren't getting any of that. Maybe an inclination of her chin. That counted as a greeting, right?
"Today, since this is our first time together, what we'd like to do,"--well, what Amaya would like to do; Rosa, clearly, didn't care--"is go around and get to know who you are, what weapons you might be currently familiar or have some knowledge of using, and if there's any weapon in particular you'd like us to cover. In a sense, you'd be helping us with that, because there are a lot of different weapons we could go over, and just picking a handful for the course is not an easy task.
"So we'll go ahead and get started with you," she gestured to whoever might be standing nearby, "and we'll work our way around, and then we'll get started in on today's weapon!"

With that, she turned, and hefted it toward one of the practice dummies, knicking it on the shoulder and making it turn on its post a little.
"Stones," said Rosa, picking one up herself, probably with an air that she was likely to throw it at the class rather than the prescribed targets, "can typically be used as a weapon three different ways: hitting," she smashed the rock down on another one, "throwing," and she, too, threw the rock, hitting the mark of the head of a practice dummy much more accurately than Amaya had...and on a dummy further away, "and with a sling. We have two different kinds here: slingshots, which uses a frame and elastic bands to increase power, distance, and accuracy like you'd have with a bow, and a basic sling, in which you hurl the rock by placing it in the cradle of the sling, swinging it in an arch, and releasing it in a timely manner. The basic sling is much more difficult to use well, but we're in the Danger Shop, so now's a good time to figure it out without knocking someone else out or giving yourself a concussion. Slingshot's fairly easy..."
And here she went into a breakdown of how to use both the basic sling and the slingshot, which was definitely handwavey because blarg.
"Any questions? If not, go ahead and give it a try yourself. Blackstone's pretty good at the hitting stuff with rocks part, so if you want some help with that...knowing angles, force, arcs, all that stuff, that's her today. For throwing and the slings, though, I'll be here to help you with technique if you need it. Please don't hit each other," she sort of sounded like she shouldn't have to say that, but she was still definitely going to say that. "The only dummies you should be hitting are the ones on the practice field. Got it? Alright. Let's fling some rocks."

He'd be equally terrible at all of them.
… It wasn't his fault he was a sentient stuffed toy.

Cait's aim wasn't terrible but he, er, did not have the upper body strength to toss a rock from where he stood to hit one of the dummies.
That wasn't going to stop him from trying.
But... er...
Re: Introductions - Weapons, 05/14.
"Oh, good," she said, and she meant it, really, couldn't you tell by how thrilled she sounded. "More people who don't know what they're doing."
Well, yeah, Rosa, that's what classes were for, so they could learn...
Maybe she was just a little sore since she'd managed to avoid having to talk to the cat thus far, but it would be kind of hard now.
Re: Introductions - Weapons, 05/14.
"Ah, weel, a'd ower trauchle ye than trauchle masell while an invasion," Cait said easily. "You signed up fur this trauchle!"

Well at least this was an activity in which her elevated strength would come in handy, so Alara had no problem in picking up one of the rocks and throwing it at one of the dummies.
Alara just hoped that the dummies were built to withstand a lot of punishment because the rock she threw ended up hitting it with a considerable amount of force.

For that matter, Cait felt he looked better when goats weren't eating him too!
Re: Introductions - Weapons, 05/14.
Yes, it was very traumatizing to be a puppy chew toy in the last class, too, Beaker, but I don't think Cait caught most of that.

"Dinnae tell me," he said, looking towards the door. "There's mair goats outside?!"
