Retro Recipes: This Sh*t is Bananas; First Period [07/18].
"Hey, guys," Summer greeted her students with that usual smile that was half-apology, half-pure evil, once they were all gathered in the classroom and ready to be completely horrified, but at least this one would have no unfortunate sexually suggestive connotations?
Hopefully. If it did, Summer would be convinced that that said far more about you than it did the recipe itself.
"Today, we're making a dish that could have included a very useful thing, because I feel like hollandaise is the sort of sauce that any chef should know. And we could be doing something really cool and learning how to make our own, but that's not what the receipe calls for. I mean, why would you even want to make your own hollandaise when you've got these nice convenient little packets to make it from, hmm? And if you're familiar with hollandaise and feeling a little scared that it's being brought up in a class about bananas, GOOD. And if you don't know what it is, well, then, you're clearly in for a treat, because today, we're definitely making ham and banana hollandaise. Please note, there are napkins at all of your stations, since i can tell your mouths are already watering. Let's get started!"

Making Ham and Banana Hollandaise! - Bananas, 07/18.
"That's right, hot. We're baking this shit, so preheat your ovens to 400, and go ahead and butter up a dish so these beauties doesn't stick to it. Then we're going to peel a few of these bananas, and sprinkle them with some lemon juice so that they don't get brown from oxidization, which is a common and actually useful trick with any fruit when you slice it, so, hey! You actually learned something today other than that old people ate weird things!
"Anyway, set those lemon-fresh bananas aside for now, and we're going to pay attention to these lovely ham slices we have, and we're going to slather on some good old yellow mustard on them. Because that's what I want to do to make sure my ham sticks to my banana, slather it in mustard. Once your mustard is set, go ahead and wrap the ham around your banana, give it a nice little coat, a little banana in a blanket, and then arrange them neatly in your previously buttered pan, pop that baby in the oven, and we'll let it cook for about ten minutes.
"While that's going, we're going to turn our attention to the sauce: go ahead and heat up some water in a sauce pan and add these not at all suspect and worrisome hollandaise packets to it. A little lemon juice. Some cream. Breathe in the wonderful aroma as you stir it and bring it up to a nice boil, and then it'll start to thicken a little.
"Once the sauce is a bit more saucy, we're just going to pour this over our bananas and ham, and let it cook just a moment longer, about 5 minutes, until that sauce is golden brown.
"I know, I know, waiting five minutes to get to try this is going to be torture, but you guys are strong, I know you can make it!"

She, for example, was proudly showing off hers settled on a bright bed of lime-green jello salad.

She was going to eat the heck out of this.
If anybody else couldn't eat theirs, she'd happily assist.

She was going to steal a slice of ham or two though.

But she was going to wing her way over to eye Summer's concoction dubiously.
Still not sorry she couldn't make this.
