Your Plan is Now on Fire [Tue, Period 3]

Today's class was in the Danger Shop. Aphra was not there. Because she wasn't going to try and get through all that water when she could just program the Danger Shop remotely.

"Hi kids," she said via projector. "Had to change my plans for this class so you're going to be watching a holo!" A really, really bad one. So bad they might consider leaving class early.

Of course, if they tried, they'd soon discover that Aphra had locked the doors...

It did seem a little...unfair, that Sidon should be stuck in the Danger Shop, watching a movie about water, when he could actually just be out in the water, but even though he felt his time could be better spent, he wouldn't have even tried to have left, because he was a good and loyal student and he honestly almost thought maybe the movie might be interrupted by more fighting.

So make that two disappointments in this class today.

Though he was actually rather amused by the movie in general; from a Zora's perspective it was all very silly, and it was entertaining thinking about how much the world in the movie would be improved if it actually had Zora in it.

Tip was neither watching the movie nor trying to escape.

She was reading on her phone.

Really, first she had to deal with reminders of being 11 during a global alien invasion, and now she had to have flashbacks to her world's public school system with this "the movie's terrible and you're not allowed to leave" business? Tip was seventeen. Basically an adult! This was nonsense.

Well. At least her "I'm here but not really here here" skills from middle school hadn't totally atrophied.

"Good," Shuri said. "Now I don't have to worry about your standards more than usual."

She was still judging the hell out of the dimension that elected Donald Trump.

"I mean, our standards are pretty terrible," Tip said. "I understand why you weren't sure."

"Mind you," Tip said. "We did manage to produce Beyonce." And Starbucks, which Shuri was apparently pretty into, not that Tip really understood why. "So we're not all bad. Just, you know, mostly."

"Well, everything from Hollywood, of course, plus a good chunk of the films out of Nigeria," Shuri said, "and we have a local arts scene as well. They couldn't really leave, so we've made very Wakandan art for centuries without outside influences."

“I would love to see what that looks like,” Tip said. “I’ve only really ever seen western or East Asian art. Or Boov stuff, which is totally out of this world. Literally. They’re from a distant planet.”
