Sparkly Destruction - Arts & Crafts That You Can Use, Thursday

Class was outside, because Cara was already dubious enough about this whole thing without having to clean up inside after. "So, all of you are interested in sparkly destruction."

Oh, like they'd clean anything. They'd just put a sheet over the glitter and hope for the best.

"Heck yeah you do!" Magnus cheered. He already had glitter in his beard. How did it get there? That was a mystery for the Reddit.

That pretty much described Magnus in general, really. "Since you've brought this on yourselves, we're going to start you off in the deep end with 'the most dangerous weapon'." Finger quotes were beneath what remained of Cara's dignity, but you could hear them.

"It's very scary," Magnus added, totally failibg that intimidation check. Like hard. "The scariest thing you can face."

He pulled back a tiny, tiny cover to reveal dice.

"It's luck!"

Cara's face was the face of someone who'd recently spent a non-zero amount of time trying to figure out how to murder people with dice. "They're deadly," she deadpanned.

"You can whip them at someone really hard," Magnus suggested. "Or punch someone with them. Or..."

Yeah. Magnus was there with her.

"If you want to be lazy we have some dice you can just stick glitter too," Cara said. "Or you can try making your own." If you could figure out how.

Clearly the proper way to make destructive dice was to make them extremely large.

Which was definitely why Mae was painting sparkly dots on large rocks. They would not be super efficient to roll, but they would be properly deadly!

Wayne felt the need to point out for the record that he was not, nor would he ever be, interested in sparkly destruction.

Destruction, oh, yeah, sure. Sometimes you needed some destruction in your life. The word alone just made him want to go blow up some beaver dams. He was sort of wondering what they were doing by not blowing up beaver dams right now.

But sparkly?

That's a hard no.

But thinking of blowing up beaver dams was definitely causing him to go rooting through the supplies to see what might be in there to help make dice explosive.

Which meant he was getting glitter all over his shirt.

Well. It had a good run, this shirt. It served him well, but he knew there was no going back from this much glitter. So it was a good thing he had probably at least half a dozen of them with pretty much the same flannel patterned, perhaps slightly different.

Mae paused in her painting to fling her arms wide. Which sent spatters of sparkly paint every which way, since she didn't, say, put her brush down first.

"WoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO!!!!!"

These two were going to be so obnoxious together, weren't they.

"You've got something on your shirt," Mae said. Because she was a little shit helpful like that.

And she seemed to have something on her face. Namely...cat things.

Wayne was thinking he much preferred talking dogs to talking cats, especially when those talking cats were also just walking around and making giant dice like humans. It was like when bears walked on their hind legs, too. Just didn't...feel right.

So he just sort of looked at Mae, brow furrowed with his discomfort with this whole thing, and then looked down at his shirt, pulling it out a little for a better look.

And trying to rub the glitter off his thumb and forefinger.

"That's unfortunate," he murmured.

Mae, on the other hand, figured this guy was a lot like her friend Angus. Who Wayne would probably say looked like a bear on two legs wearing glasses.

But he had that whole quiet, stoic thing going on.

So she just nodded along, her amusement shown in her small smile and the twitch of her battered ear.

"It's the danger of glitter. Once it's on you, you're doomed forever. You'll probably have to burn it."

Wayne considered that for a moment, thinking that the odd talking cat girl had a very good point.

"Could make a bonfire out of it," he noted. "There's got to be a place around this island that'd make a good spot for a bush party."

Wayne. At this rate, with this class, you'd be having a flannel burning bush party every week.

Which didn't sound like the worst thing in the world, really.

Mae would be into that. Or at least would think she was into that before social anxiety and her extreme lightweightedness when it came to booze got in her way.

"Like half the island is covered by woods," Mae offered. "And the other half is full of beaches."

Loads of places for bonfires!

Wayne tried to brush some of the glitter off his chest.

There somehow seemed to be more glitter there after he was done with it.

"Can confirm," he said, looking up. "Looks like I'm having a bush party."

Now the real question was whether to wait a week or two to build up more flannel fuel or not. But waiting meant having glittery shirts around.

It was a cundundrum.

"Sounds like fun," Mae said. "You should totally ask around and see if anyone else has stuff they want to burn, too."

For, you know, the public good or something.

"Oh, I'd imagine everyone's got a little something they could burn," Wayne mused, head tilted slightly. "Who doesn't love a little spring cleaning? An arsonist's abultion? An immaculate inferno? A..." He squinted a little, "pyro purge."

". . . Wow," Mae said. "That was downright poetic."

About fire. She could appreciate that.

Wayne gave a small, somewhat modest nod in appreciation of the praise from the weird talking cat girl.

"Would you have anything to contribute?" he asked. He figured he might as well put out a few feelers for what sort of things might get burned if he were to follow through with this supposed pyro purge bush party...he probably would. Can't have glitter in the room, it'll just get everywhere, and who didn't love a good bush party anyway? And it would just be rude to not invite the weird talking cat girl, even if she was a weird talking cat girl, considering she'd pretty much inspired the idea.

Mae didn’t really have a lot of stuff, period.

“Oh totally,” she said with a wave of her paw.

She was definitely going to end up stealing things just to burn them.

Shuri was deeply confused by this assignment. Maybe the dice were to be used like komoyo beads?

Hers would be programmed to be communicators, at least, which was why Shuri had a tiny soldering iron up against the rocks (smaller than Mae's) she'd chosen to use.
