Adulting 101- Monday- 2nd period

Final day would be a good day for a class on parties, and if people had kids, well, then today you were getting a kids' birthday party. The Danger Shop was made up like a suburban backyard, with Danger Shopped kids and pony rides and a clown making balloon animals, plus cake and ice cream. Breakfast of champions!

And there was Kitty, standing with an older-than-usual Lexi, who was eyeing the clown suspiciously. "Hey, everybody," Kitty greeted them. "It's our last class, and it's not exactly a normal class, so just have some fun. Don't punch the clown."

"I'm just saying, you've had better ideas than the clown," Lexi said in a low voice.

"It's fine. It's making animals."

"I don't trust it."

"You don't have to trust it, it's the Danger Shop."

"Which is another thing..."

Lexi was mostly going to sit on a chair and watch everybody. She felt a little awkward, but mostly she was relieved to not be hanging around her baby self, because that was weird and having a weird life has not quite prepared her for this.

She still thought the clown was too Murderworld-y, though.

Tesla had been maybe not as well supervised as she should've been this morning and went out exploring while her dads were bickering about jogging and how Tony very much would not be doing that.

When she heard a party, she had to investigate, right?

So there was a weirdly shorter version of Lexi, apparently, loitering in the doorway with a wistful look on her face.

"My name's not Lex," Tesla said. "It's Tesla."

"Steve Rogers and Tony Stark," she replied, frowning hard at Lexi. "She has my face! What are the odds of that happening?"

She pulled out a Starkphone to start figuring it out.

Lexi, meanwhile, had looked over and rubbed her temple.

"I don't have the energy to deal with this today," she sighed.

"Well, you're taller or else we'd be right out of that movie where the kids go to camp and stuff, huh?" Tesla said.

"Except we're not related," Lexi said.

And then she frowned and threw a panicked glance towards Kitty, who shrugged while sending a text.

"Then it's probably just a weird mirror universe thing," Tesla said. "Hi. I'm Tesla."
ahawkwardphase: (tween: oh)

"Lexi." She kind of wanted to point out that that's not how mirror universes worked, but she was having a weird weekend and was pretty sure she should stop giving away knowledge like that in front of her mom. "Did you say Tesla?"

This poor girl.

Well, she was 8. She had a vaaaaaaaaaague idea of how they worked but Steve wouldn't let her open any because he was Absolutely No Fun.

"Yes. What's wrong with Tesla?"

To be fair, Lexi's parents should really be doing the same.

"Nothing," Lexi shrugged. "Just never heard it as a name before. It's a great code name."

And one that she herself would definitely never consider for a few minutes someday. Nope. Not at all.

Tesla preened. "Exactly. That's what Pops called me when I was really, really little and it stuck."
ahawkwardphase: (tween: that might work)

"Stick with Tesla," Lexi decided. "That's much better."

Not that Tesla needed her help. But here was validation anyway.

Lexi shrugged a little. "I'm fine."

Which as always, anytime a thirteen-year-old said that, they were lying.

Lexi wasn't the best at navigating social situations, because she was thirteen and still learning, but she knew the word 'remind' might be a mibdfuekd.

"Definitely keep it then. You can probably even still find stuff with your name on it!"

It was probably just really high-end and car-themed.

Good call, Steve.

"Good call," Lexi said, and added, "at least not without the appropriate safety protocols in place."

Kitty should probably worry about why she'd jumped to that.
