You kids got real lucky these two guys weren't still teaching civics, because the rants about shutting down the government would be... extensive.

Instead, there was,just occasional angry phone checking.

So. Dodged a bullet.

"Hi, welcome to The Future is Swell. I didn't name it, I promise," Tony said helpfully. "My name is Tony Stark, feel free to call me Tony if you like."

"What's wrong with saying that the future is swell?" asked the one who named the class. "I'm Steve Rogers. Feel free to call me...Mr. Rogers."

Because he was still old-fashioned enough to find it weird for students to call him by his first name. "This class is going to be more in Tony's area of expertise--lots of building things."

"Or, at least, trying to build things," Tony said with a grin. "But first, we'd like to get to know you all. Your names, where you're coming from, and what you'd like to see become reality techwise."

"Flying cars!" Steve said immediately.

Or swole. One of those.

Quick as it was.

Your name, something about the world/part of time you come from, and an invention that should exist already, darn it!

Especially if you know how to make a flying car.

God, I'm soooooooo tiiiiiiiiired.

Prompto Argentum

"I'm Prompto." Grinning, he knocked his newly-decided-signature peace-sign-salute-wave-thing at the teachers and the class. "I'm from a different world called Eos, but, honestly, a lot of the tech and stuff back home is an awful lot like here, but I'm kinda stoked to see where VR develops. And I like thinking of ways to make weapons...better. More interesting! Guns and stuff, though, that's what I'm good at. Also, I want a food replicator, where, like, I could just be in my room, elbows deep in a raid, and then reach over and push a button, and boom. Pizza. Or Cup Noodle. Just like that."

He thought that was pretty good for something he'd just made up on the spot when the question was asked.

"Hello, Prompto," Tony said with a smile. "Food replicators would be a fun challenge! I certainly grew up watching shows with them."

Just gonna... not address the weapons thing.

Nell Ingram

"I'm Nell Ingram," she said politely. "I'm from this world - more or less - and not quite ten years back from where you'uns are here. I'm guessing I'd like to see a more efficient solar energy system. Make it easier for those of us who live mostly off the grid."

Bobby Drake

"Bobby Drake," he introduced himself. "I grew up in the sixties, but my friends and I got pulled forward through time, so I guess I'm from... here? Sort of. New York, anyway. Um, can we second things? Cause I kinda like Prompto's idea with the food replicator thing."

Mostly because the future, or his future, anyway, already had most of the sci-fi stuff he remembered seeing in films when he was little.

... Except maybe reliable time travel. But he wasn't sure he wanted that either.

Well, they couldn't all be Kang, Bobby.

"I'll be sure to move the replicator up on our to do list," Tony promised. "Make the laws of physics cry."

"Nice to meet you, Nell," Tony said, trying not to be amused by the accent. "Clean energy is a very good choice. What do you mean by off the grid? So we can figure out what we're working with."

"The church wants to keep separate from the government," Nell explained. "So, they'uns don't use those utilities that would have your name or information. My husband, John, has a solar energy system that gives us enough to run the lights a little in the winter and a little electricity for other things. It would be nice if there was a more compact, less expensive system that was reliable and could produce and store more energy."

Don't let the accent fool you. She might be backwoods and church schooled, but she was a pretty smart cookie.

Sabine Wren

Nooo, nooo. His concerns didn't factor in the accent after that.

"We'll see what we can manage for you," he promised faintly.

"Sabine," she introduced herself. "I'm from somewhere that has what you'd probably call flying cars, and it feels wrong not to see them here."

Then she added, "Though maybe everyone should learn to drive on land before you get airborne."

She'd seen what you people did with cars.

Theron Shan

"I'm Theron, from the same neck of the galaxy as that one." Theron jerked his thumb in Sabine's direction. Well, give or take a few thousand years he was. "Our cybernetics are cooler. Well, with some exceptions."

It didn't do to trash talk your boss or anything.

"That's an excellent point about making sure everyone knows how to drive, first," Steve said, then grinned. "Can you show me what your flying cars look like?"

Steve smiled. "What kind of cybernetics are your favorite?"

Juuuust pretending he had more than the vaguest idea of what cybernetics were.

Beaker

"Sure," she said, and since she didn't have pictures on her, she pulled out her shetbook to put together a quick, crude drawing if a speeder to show him. "Speeders. They vary."

Oooooooh, Steve wanted one.

"Do they go fast?" he asked eagerly.

"They do in the holos," Sabine said. "You can make them do some things they probably weren't meant to do by the manufacturers."

"Ooooh," Steve said, lighting up. "I ride a motorcycle."
