Once again, class was being held in the Danger Shop. Kanan had gone poking around for an interesting simulation, and the best he'd managed to find this week was some approximation of a school dance. Complete with all the glitter.

All. The. Glitter.

So, shrugging, he'd decided to roll with it.

"This week, we're going to touch on identity," he said, launching into his lecture and ignoring the specks of light being thrown by the disco ball above. "Because sometimes, if you're laying low, the first thing you're going to have to lose is going to be... well... you."

And a shrug. Everyone had been in his class last semester. He figured after that lesson taught by Caleb, they probably could guess at how he'd come to that conclusion.

"So today, we're going to mingle. To try to fit in at some kind of school reunion event while being somebody not ourselves. Last term I had you guys think about your tells, about things that give you away as you right out of the gate. I want you to keep those in mind while you mingle today, and to keep as much about yourselves under wraps as you possibly can in the process. Whether that involves coming up with a new identity is up to you, but remember that if you go that route, you're going to have to keep your story straight. So, keep it simple. Random guests are going to be on the lookout for each of you, and if they catch you slipping up in your story they'll kill you." He grinned and shrugged. "Which will make it an interesting party, at least."

He jerked a thumb toward the punch bowl. It wasn't spiked. It was going to stay that way.

"I'll be over there chaperoning. Probably badly, if you all end up dead. If one of the simulated guests catches you, that far wall is your penalty box. Wait a minute, and then head back out there to try again. The longer you can go without someone figuring out who you are, the better. It might take more than one try."

Ready to Party

The glitter will probably fade from your clothing when you leave the sim.

Probably.

Wander around with the NPCs in the simulation, making small talk because... those are the rules, mostly. Try not to give too much away about yourself. There's no telling what the people you're chatting with know about you. It could even be a mannerism you have. Kanan had to tie his hair back because Caleb's tendency to run his hand through his hair had been a dead giveaway, for example.

The simulated party guest will point a finger at you and simply inform you that you're dead if you get caught, because Kanan hadn't gotten far enough to program weapons into this one, ssh. If you do get caught, go stand at the wall of shame, and then come back out again and try until you get it right. Keeping your story straight is important, alright?

Feel free to mod your party guests, or ask me in the OCD for an NPC!

True to his word, he's standing by the punch bowl, being a terrible chaperone. But he's here if anybody has any questions about the assignment or just wants to have a conversation.

If you come and visit him as a party guest instead of as a student, though, it's totally possible he'll point at you and inform you that you're dead if you slip up, too.

There are no explosions this time around, sadly. Sorry, Sabine.

Poke me here if you need an NPC! And if you guys want to bounce off of one another, too, feel free. There's no hard rule saying students can't also be party guests trying to catch their peers, after all.

It was fine.

This event was still a monstrosity, though, and Sabine had Thoughts. Mostly about glitter.

...They were not necessarily bad thoughts?

Good thing Sidon didn't wear clothing, then!

He did have to sigh a little bit, though, at the objective of today's class. It was one thing to be in a party scenario where he was mostly expected to schmooze and parse out information like in Master Skywalker's class, but it was an entirely different one when he was trying to schmooze and not be parsed out. Hard to go incognito when you were a foot taller than everyone else around you and very red (with a few stubborn patches of green and blue from yesterday).

But it was good for him, he knew. He wasn't good at this, for more than just his physical attributes, but it might one day be very important for him to be good at it.

He started by removing some of his more...princely accouterments during the lecture, at least, hiding them underneath the punch table for now. Hard to pass yourself off as a commoner if you were wearing a crown!

In addition to dispensing of his royal accoutrements, Sidon had developed another strategy that he helped might sway attention away from himself and any speculation that he might, indeed, be none other than the Zora Prince.

And that was simply to feel very flattered but highly offended at anything even remotely suggesting such a thing. "I say, do you mean to imply that all Zora look the same?"

He had no idea how well it would work, but it was certainly worth a try.

Sabine stood out abd there was really no way of getting around that for this class, but she was also good at vague answers and throwing off a "Sorry, there's someone else I have to talk to," before they could get too deep into conversation.

After a while that turned into "Exchse me, I have to rinse glitter out of my eye," which actually became better because no one was going to argue against that here.
