Physical Education, Tuesday, June 14, 2018

Once again, class was outdoors to enjoy the summer weather.

"Sorry about last week," Tony said, clearing his throat. "This week we'll be getting back on track with learning about soccer. Or football to the rest of the world."

"Which makes sense, since you spend most of the time kicking it with your foot instead of throwing it through the air and running," Steve commented. Somewhere Fox News was having a fainting fit about how un-American he was being.

Geeze, Steve. Stop being a person instead of a figure piece to foist shitty opinions on.

"The rules aren't as complicated as American football," Tony said with a grin. "So this might be a little easier to explain."

As long as they didn't get into the drama of FIFA.

"But the shortest version is that you can't use your hands at all unless you're the goalie," Steve said. "Let's start with some warm-up laps after, I assume, another terrifying PSA."

"It's about teamwork!" Tony, no.

"...of course it is," Steve said a little dryly.

Funny enough, Astrid was happier with the laps than she imagined she was going to be about the soccer. You didn't have to depend on anyone else with laps, just yourself. And no one had to depend on her, and she could just kind of zone out while she putzed along in a slow jog and it was kind of nice, really, so long as she kept a moderate pace.

Astrid had never really been high on the picking order for sports in school before, and only part of that was because she wasn't exactly a social butterfly. So her strategy here was simple: stand around when everyone stood, run in the direction everyone else was running, and just pray that the ball never ended up spiraling her way.
