Attitude: Deal With It, Friday, Period 2
"Week two, an' people actually came back? I'm touched, yo."
You could tell how touched he was by the way he didn't actually look like he cared, particularly. Which didn't really mean much. This was Reno, after all.
"This week, we're gonna talk wardrobe. People say 'dress for the job you want,' and... I mean, ignorin' that some jobs go right ahead and dress you themselves, there's at least a bit of truth in that. T-shirts and jeans are fine for just bummin' around in. Hell, if your goal in life is to just be comfortable and do that bummin', that works out great, don't it? But if you're lookin' to impress, you gotta put a bit more effort into it than that, yo."
He glanced around the room. Okay, Rufus didn't need any help dressing to impress. But Rufus was the son of a guy who essentially owned the planet. So.
"So, today, I'm gonna get you to put together a look for yourself. Got the Danger Shop all rigged up to be a clothin' store with a pretty healthy variety to it, and you're all gonna go through the racks and start experimentin' with what look you wanna go with for whatever it is you want to end up doing goin' forward."
Suck it, Harvard. Reno could teach useful classes, too.

Re: Find... A Look.
The last time Astrid had been shopping for clothes had been in a large donation thrift store where Starr had foisted on her a pink mini-dress and matching heels to wear the last time she visited her mother in prison. Before that, she'd never really been shopping for clothes before, sometimes dragged around with her mother as she roved through racks of boho-chic in little artsy boutiques, but she'd always just sort of wore whatever didn't fit Ingrid or whatever Ingrid got tired of or maybe a few things Ingrid had picked up because Ingrid actually noticed that Astrid had grown out of her old jeans from two years ago. Astrid hadn't even had a bra until Starr bought her one a few months ago.
She didn't even know where to begin.
She liked blue, though? Maybe she'd start with something blue...?

But...
Hm.
He glanced at Reno. "Does this thing do requests?"
What he wanted probably wasn't in there.
Re: Find... A Look.
"It's a programmed holographic clothing store," Reno replied with a shrug. "If it can't pull it off, what can?"
Reno could only imagine what Rufus was going to request, here.
Re: Find... A Look.
He hadn't actually answered the question.
"I see," he said.
Re: Find... A Look.
Reno shrugged.
"I dunno. I didn't build the room. Why don't you try it an' see, slick?"

Re: Lecture!
C'mon. Hat. Fingerless leather gloves. Epaulettes. Seashells and fishing nets as accents. Gold trim. If that all didn't say 'Pirate Queen' she'd shanghai someone.
Alternately, there was a whole song and dance number she could do.
Re: Lecture!
"Then you humor me an' just put together more of the same, yo," he decided. "If you're happy with what you got an' where it'll take you, all power to you, I ain't gonna say you're wrong or nothin'."
Re: Lecture!
She didn't mind playing dressup for an hour. So long as it was acknowledged that she didn't need to.
