"I got a bunch of that plywood stuff and some hammers and nails so we can help out people in town with boarding up windows."

Because he was a goddamn fantasy boyscout about some things. Mostly involving keeping people safe.

"Soooo... let's get going, kay?"

Oh, hey! Peridot had used a hammer before!

... Peridot was also shorter than the bottoms of most windowsills. So, while she could use a hammer and nails, there wasn't really much to be done for the fact that she couldn't actually reach anything useful with all that plywood.

So if anyone needed someone to hand them nails while they worked or something, she was totally your Gem.

The cynical part of Jason was of the opinion that it'd be easier to just repair anything that got damaged after the fact, rather than this boarding up windows shit. A hurricane couldn't do more damage than a giant monster made of gold, right?
