Flight and Flying, Monday, June 6, 2016

"Welcome to the forest moon of Endor," Anakin said, looking entirely too pleased about getting to use a Real Place today. "Today we have taken you out of the simulators and are letting you get some real experience, so please don't splat yourself into a tree and ruin everyone's day."

"Which can absolutely happen when you're zipping around a lot of big, solid trees at high speeds," said Jaina, who'd heard allll about her family's time here ad nauseaum and knew this for a fact. "If you're not sure what you're doing, feel free to go slower."

"Even if you are sure what you're doing, don't be crazy," Anakin said, glancing sideways at Ahsoka ~~if she was there~~. "And while there are weapons on these speeder bikes, don't use them. The local inhabitants are intelligent and quite adept with their own weapons."

"And if they have reason to come after you, you're going to be embarrassed real fast," Jaina smiled.

Because they were adorable teddy bears. "Yub yub," Anakin agreed blandly.

Shorter length, fewer trees to dodge. Please don't crash and die.

It's a longer field with more trees and shrubs to dodge. Again with the "don't die" part.

If they aren't flying too. Because no promises.

Ahsoka Tano

Yub yub.

Ahsoka was there, and on time, since she wasn't missing a weekend and feeling generally cold and unsettled today.

She also caught that side and was giving him one right back, since gee, who might she have picked up any bad habits from?

Anakin winked at her because yeah, he knew where her bad habits came from.

Franklin Yub Yub Doyle

Frank made out a quick to do list which X he would follow to the letter while zipping around on a speeder.

1. Drink.
2. Zip around without a care in the world at an appropriate speed.
3. Do not splat.
4. Drink to a successful ride.

He seemed to recall something about weapons, but was hazy on if it was positive or negative in relation to the use of said weapons. He would just need to see where circumstances took him.

Frank zipped around trees for a reasonably paced definition of "zip," and got to the end with both his speeder bike and his life intact. There were probably some life forms on the forest floor who had a spiritual experience as a young man zipped way too close to where they were ducking in the grass, but none of them were adorable teddy bears so they apparently did not count. And anyway, no injuries!

Displaying all the maturity that might be expected from someone who'd spent far too much time around him, Ahsoka poked her tongue out in response.

Of course Ahsoka wasn't going to do anything crazy, seriously given that there was no shooting or moving lightsaber battles going on, her flying was practically sedate.

Tali'Zorah nar Yub-Yub

Sure, Tali thought she could challenge herself a bit more today. She still kept her speed more or less on the lower end of the scale, but you know what? This was pretty fun.

(It was entirely possible that she took a few minutes before she started the course to temporarily take the weapons offline, just to be sure.)

Jaina wasn't flying during class. But after class, it was on.

Rey, yub yub.

Rey had recently acquired a speeder bike, and she had been riding it around the island enough to feel comfortable with an advanced course. Dodging wasn't even a problem for her.
