Tony and a large cup of coffee were perched on the edge of the desk at the front of the class. Because you could in no way teach without that. "Hello, and welcome to class. This is Working with Jerks--" excuse him while he side eyed his teaching partner a little for that title. "And I'm Tony Stark."

A beat.

"If you know who I am, it's admittedly a little funny." The things that happen when you garner a reputation.

"I meant in general," Steve said, cheeks going a little pink. "Everyone is going to work with someone who's a little difficult at some point in their lives. Class projects, shift work, military training...it happens." He smiled. "I'm Steve Rogers, by the way."

"Uh huh," Tony said, taking a pointed sip of his coffee. "College is the worst for that. You'll end up doing all the work in a group of slackers and contemplate murder a few times before you graduate."

Screw. Group. Projects. Seriously.

"But it's not all terrible! Working as a group also allows you to achieve things you can't manage on your own." Because you guys lucked out on getting the more earnest version of Tony Stark, kids.

Steve nodded, equally earnest. "Working as a team, when everyone's individual strengths become more important than their flaws is something everyone should experience at least once, but it does mean that you need to learn to...well...suck it up and deal with annoyances."

Tony put the coffee to the side and clapped his hands together. "Today we'll be getting to know who you are and seeing how well you handle yourself when your day is thrown off."

"It'll be fun." Steve was so optimistic.

You weren't in a class run by Tony Stark to get substandard Danger Room scenarios. Welcome to Buckstars, the trendiest coffee shop you've never heard of! Each of you will find yourself behind a counter clad in the most fashion-forward of aprons and hats, preparing for the morning rush at your shop, when suddenly, well.

Ping in and find out. And remember, you're working with jerks.

Clearly these two needed to take this class.

That's a lie.

It was indeed what they were there for! And Tony was done with his coffee for the morning, so he might even be able to talk back.

Isabela

Steve, naturally, had been up since dawn and had recently discovered protein shakes (thanks, Rumlow!), and he'd be happy to talk to you about the one he was drinking, or about Crossfit.

Steve maybe needed to not spend this much time with Rumlow.

The two of them are vastly mature and are definitely excellent role models for young children.

Isabela was grinning at Steve. A perfectly friendly, not at all predatory grin.

"I'm Isabela, I tend to just punch jerks int he face." Or steal their wallets. Sometimes both.

And Tony wasn't giving her a deeply amused look for that at all. No siree.

"Nice to meet you, Isabela. While punching someone in the face is satisfying, you might not want to burn that bridge just yet."

Hopefully Tony would be just as amused once he'd inspired a few stories.

"But it's the fastest way to get them to stop." It was efficient.

That would imply there wasn't a thriving RPF community where he was from! He did not even want to know why people thought he was that flexible, to be honest.

"In some situations," he granted her. "But in one's where you need something in return where it'll just make things more difficult in the long run?"

Like Tony had never burned a bridge because someone was a jackass.

"Or where others will suffer the consequences."

Rey

"I'm Rey, and I don't know many people at all." Yay for not connecting with anybody except one guy who left! "I didn't actually mean to sign up for this."

"But maybe you can still learn something from it," Tony suggested. "Nice to see you again, Rey."

Rey had been to the Perk once! She absolutely thought this would go badly, but she did look adorable in the hat.

Ring ring goes the phone! Do you have a bad feeling about this, Rey?

Why yes she did, how did you know?

"Hello?" she asked when she picked up.

"Hey, it's Steve," Steve said, "and I know I'm supposed to be at work right now but...yeah, that's not gonna happen, so you're going to be working the shift alone."

And cue thirty people bursting through the door.

Screw you, Steve.

"No, that's not going to work," Rey said, eyes wide. "In fact, you need to be here immediately."

"Sorry," Steve said, making the most obvious static-y noises into the phone. "Going through a tunnel!"

And then he hung up.

Eric Bittle

"Eric Bittle," he introduced himself. "I'm a figure skater, and I grew up in the South." The 'And thus I know plenty of jerks' was pretty much implied there.
