Creative Inspirations, Monday, Period One
This week, students had been instructed to bring swimwear, or at least clothing they didn't mind getting wet. But preferably swimwear. The teachers were standing on the causeway, Jono with a bag slung over one shoulder and a vaguely amused look on his face.
//So, the weekend happened,// he said, as though that explained pretty much everything. //Weekends need to stop doing that. It takes away from all of our class prep time. That said, we managed to get a portal all the same, and this week's trip should be both relaxing and somewhat inspirational.//
Or, at least, that was the hope.
"The city of Bath predates the Roman era in Britain," Hannibal said. It was even older than he'd been this weekend. "First the Celts, then the Romans, then every culture that lived there since, made use of the natural hot springs in the area. These days, there are numerous examples of architecture and art there, as well as shopping, a racetrack, and a spa."
//It's the spa we'll be heading to today,// Jono said, as if the wardrobe they'd requested for the day wasn't indication enough. //The area we'll be visiting was once a place of worship for the Celts, who were honouring their goddess, Sul. The area is actually recognized as a sacred site, and so - you probably guessed it by now - we're going to need to to treat it with absolute respect. We're not above making you wait in the hall while the rest of us soak in the ambiance of the place, at all.//
Jono was still undecided as to whether he was going to get into the water. But hey, he was willing to go along just to admire the architecture, if it came to that.
Hannibal just wanted a bath. A very long and hot bath.
